I combine medication management with talk therapy to provide comprehensive care tailored to each patient's needs. The mind/body connection is at the forefront of my care, with attention paid to diet and exercise as well as breathing and meditation. I specialize in Women's Issues, including pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause, and have extensive experience treating depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety disorders, including OCD and PTSD. I often collaborate with primary care physicians and therapists to provide a team approach to treatment. I treat patients over age 18.

I received my MD from The University of Iowa. I completed an intern year in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Illinois, Chicago, and went on to psychiatry residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. I am board certified in Adult Psychiatry and have worked in outpatient private practice psychiatry for nearly 20 years.

I enjoy taking time to understand my patients' goals, offer psychoeducation, and create a collaborative plan for treatment with the patient. I received my undergraduate degree from Wayne State University in Detroit and completed my medical degree at Oakland University William Beaumont in Rochester, MI. I am a graduate of the Adult Psychiatry Residency Program at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, MI, and I have also completed a psychotherapy fellowship through the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute.

Due to the diversity and richness of culture in southeast Michigan, I have experience working with patients from varied backgrounds. I enjoy the challenge such a heterogeneous environment brings and am particularly fond of working with young adults experiencing life transitions. I also have experience working with patients from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as adolescents and geriatric populations.

I graduated from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, South Carolina in 2016. I completed my psychiatry residency at Henry Ford Allegiance Health in Jackson, Michigan in 2020 and a subspecialty in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Maryland in 2021. I am dual board certified in Adult and Forensic Psychiatry and have practiced in inpatient, outpatient, community, academic, and forensic settings.

Most recently, I served as the medical director for a partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient program (PHP/IOP) for adolescents in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I completed my general psychiatry residency at the University of Illinois at Peoria and went on to pursue my child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern.

Following my fellowship, I worked at Kaiser Permanente in clinical roles of outpatient, geriatric, and C/L.

Upon graduation, I relocated to Philadelphia, where I completed my residency program at Einstein Medical Center. After completing my training, I worked for 8 years in a community mental health clinic, treating an underserved population in all modalities of psychiatric care. Over my 12-year career, I have treated both adult males and females, including seniors, which has led to varied and wide-ranging diagnoses. After leaving the community clinic setting, I began working for an outpatient clinic in a suburb of Philadelphia.

In addition to medication management, I also incorporate psychotherapy in the treatment of mental health conditions. I am a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in adult psychiatry. I completed residency training at East Carolina University in both internal medicine and psychiatry. After residency, I pursued my passion in psychiatry and stayed on as a clinical assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at East Carolina University. In this role, I specialized in treating adults with mental illness in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. I have spent a considerable amount of time teaching residents and medical students and have published several papers focusing on the neuroscience pathways of mental health conditions.

I am a Board-Certified General Psychiatrist and Board-Eligible Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, licensed to practice in New York, Illinois, and Arkansas. I earned my medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, and completed my psychiatry residency at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). I went on to complete a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at UAMS, where I also participated in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Program, specializing in neurodevelopmental disorders. With experience at Burrell Behavioral Health, Arkansas Children's Hospital, and UAMS, I bring a wealth of expertise to my practice. While I have treated a wide variety of psychiatric conditions, my work has been shaped by these clinical settings and the breadth of patients I have served across them.

Dr. Sophia Monsour holds the position of Chief Psychiatrist for Pennsylvania at Talkiatry. After completing residency in 2013 at Albany Medical Center, she has spent the past 9 years fulfilling her passion for integrated and specialty care for adults suffering from mental illness. Her years of experience have included working as an integrated care Psychiatrist at a community health center, a medical director of a Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient Program (PHP/IOP), and also working for an Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACT) specializing in the Serious Mentally Ill (SMI) population. Most recently, she has been serving our veterans as the Outpatient Section Chief, Primary/Mental Health Integration Medical Director and Resident/Medical Student Coordinator at VA Pittsburgh. Dr. Monsour has an approachable style when treating individuals who suffer from various diagnoses, especially those with prior trauma. She provides supportive psychotherapy and at times uses psychodynamic therapy skills to address her patient's current stressors and to identify the root cause of their ailment. She believes in a holistic approach and utilizes mindfulness as a technique along with medication management.
