Moni Baidya, MD
I strongly believe that developing a good therapeutic rapport is essential for successful treatment. My practice primarily focuses on medication management, often combined with supportive, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), and couples therapy in 20–30 minute follow-up visits. I take a holistic approach, particularly for patients with complex medical conditions that impact emotional health, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and family members when appropriate. In addition to general adult psychiatry, I specialize in geriatric psychiatry and women's mental health, with a primary focus on treating women with mood and anxiety disorders and geriatric patients with newly diagnosed psychiatric conditions.
I am double board-certified in adult and geriatric psychiatry with over nine years of experience. I earned my medical degree from Manipal College of Medical Sciences and completed my psychiatry residency and geriatric fellowship training at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville. My background includes work in nursing homes, acute rehabilitation centers, inpatient psychiatric units, and outpatient settings, providing care for diverse patient populations.
During the first visit, patients can expect a comprehensive evaluation where I take the time to assess their symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals. I foster a collaborative and supportive environment, ensuring that treatment plans are tailored to individual needs. Follow-up visits typically last 20–30 minutes, with a focus on medication adjustments and therapeutic support. If additional therapy is necessary, I may recommend integrating a therapist into the patient's care team for the best possible outcome.

My primary focus is treating children, adolescents, and young-early adults for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, and other psychiatric conditions. I am bilingual and speak Spanish and English to deliver quality care for patients and parents.

Natalia Roque, MD
I believe in building a strong therapeutic alliance grounded in empathy, respect, and curiosity. I value collaboration and open communication, ensuring that patients feel like active partners in their care. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where individuals feel understood as whole people, not defined solely by their symptoms. I also prioritize incorporating cultural background and social determinants of health, including financial stressors and systemic barriers, into treatment planning.
In my work, I begin by taking time to understand each patient's unique story, experiences, and goals. I approach care through a trauma-informed lens and with cultural sensitivity to ensure treatment feels safe, respectful, and relevant. My process integrates evidence-based approaches, including psychodynamic therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), while tailoring care plans to meet both clinical needs and patient preferences. I regularly check in on progress, invite feedback, and adjust treatment collaboratively to support an ongoing, responsive therapeutic process.
I received my BA in Biology from the University of Chicago and my medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. I returned to the University of Chicago to complete my psychiatry residency, where I served as Chief Resident of the outpatient psychiatry clinics and was a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Natalie Cummings, MD
I primarily focus on medication management and supportive psychotherapy, but have extensive training in utilizing various therapy modalities, including cognitive behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, reminiscence therapy, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. When appropriate, I will refer for more extensive psychotherapy and/or collaborate with your established psychotherapist for comprehensive care. I strongly believe that addressing psychosocial and interpersonal factors (including relationship health, economic stressors, social isolation and loneliness) is as essential as pharmacologic management in treating mental health conditions. I have particular experience and interest in treating older adults and those suffering from memory disorders, but provide treatment for a variety of psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorders, trauma-related disorders, and substance use disorders.
I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist and board-eligible geriatric psychiatrist. I obtained my medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed my residency training in psychiatry at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Jackson Memorial Hospital. I then completed my geriatric psychiatry fellowship at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. During my fellowship, I participated in Mount Sinai's Visiting Doctors Program, providing patient-centered and compassionate care to homebound elder adults in New York City. I also received training at Coler Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center on Roosevelt Island and presented at the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry annual meeting. During my training, I gained extensive experience providing psychiatric care to various patient populations in multiple settings, including the outpatient clinic, inpatient unit, and emergency department.
Following my training, I worked at New York Presbyterian's Gracie Square Hospital, serving first as float psychiatrist across every inpatient psychiatric unit (including the young adult/college student program, Orthodox Jewish program, psychotic disorders program, crisis-stabilization program, dual focus program, and Asian Psychiatry program), before transitioning to an established psychiatric attending for the older adult program. During my time at Gracie Square Hospital, I received the Physician of the Year Award and served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine. I worked closely alongside staff psychologists, social workers, and nurses to provide multidisciplinary, collaborative care to patients suffering from a variety of mental health conditions. Nathan Sklar, MD
I earned my MD from Western Michigan University and completed my residency at the Medical College of Georgia. I have experience in diverse outpatient and inpatient psychiatry roles, including general outpatient psychiatry, hospital and emergency room consults, inpatient facilities, addiction psychiatry, and interventional psychiatry. In my free time, I enjoy exploring new restaurants with my wife, reading, weight lifting, playing video games with friends, and spending time with my cat, Gus.
I enjoy getting to know patients as people, not just as symptoms to treat. I listen to patients tell their stories and support them through life events. I encourage patients to take an active role in their mental health and treatment course.
I begin with a thorough history of present concerns, the patient’s life as a whole, and future goals. In follow-up sessions, I work with patients through both talk therapy and medications to reach their personal goals. I also coordinate care with other physicians and laboratories to get a full picture of the patient’s health.

Find a psychiatrist in New York, NY
New York is full of specialists, yet getting on a psychiatrist's schedule can still take months. Talkiatry gives you another route: a psychiatrist in New York, NY who sees you by secure video, often within days rather than months.
Your psychiatrist is licensed in New York, so you can be seen from anywhere in the city, whether you are in Manhattan, Queens, or the Bronx.
How online psychiatry works for New York residents
Care happens by secure video, from wherever you are. You answer a few questions in a short assessment, then get matched with a psychiatrist licensed in New York. No subway ride, no waiting room.
Your first visit lasts 60 minutes, so there is time to explain your symptoms, ask questions, and shape a plan together. Later visits usually run about 30 minutes. The goal is a psychiatrist who listens and adjusts your care over time.
What a psychiatrist in New York can help with
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor trained to diagnose mental health conditions and manage treatment. Talkiatry psychiatrists help people with anxiety, depression, and ADHD, plus conditions such as bipolar disorder, OCD, and PTSD.
When medication is part of your plan, your psychiatrist can prescribe and manage it when clinically appropriate and legally permissible. A prescription is never guaranteed, and some medications may not be available for online prescribing. Your psychiatrist will talk through the options with you.
Therapy may also fit into your care, depending on your needs and availability.
Does insurance cover a psychiatrist in New York?
Talkiatry is in-network with major insurers, and we check your coverage during the free assessment before you schedule anything. That way you know where you stand before your first visit. What you pay out of pocket depends on your plan, so confirm the details with your insurer.
Mental health care in New York
Even in a large city, finding an available psychiatrist is hard. According to KFF's analysis of federal shortage data, New York has 200 designated mental health professional shortage areas. Only about 15.2% of the state's need for mental health practitioners is currently met. Closing that gap would take an estimated 238 more psychiatrists.
Online psychiatry helps expand your options by matching you with a psychiatrist licensed anywhere in New York, not only those with an office near your neighborhood.
Psychiatry across New York
For psychiatrists licensed across the state, see our New York psychiatrist page. You can also explore online care in nearby Brooklyn.
Start with a free assessment
Getting started is simple. Take our free online assessment, answer a few questions, and get matched with a psychiatrist licensed in New York. Then schedule your first video visit, often within days.
How much does a psychiatrist cost in NYC?

Your cost depends on your insurance plan. Talkiatry is in-network with major insurers, and we verify your coverage during the free assessment before you schedule. Because plans differ, your out-of-pocket amount, such as a copay, is set by your insurer, so it helps to confirm the details with them.
Who is the best psychiatrist in NYC?

There is no single best psychiatrist, because the right fit depends on your needs, condition, and goals. Talkiatry matches you with a psychiatrist licensed in New York based on what you share in your assessment. If the fit does not feel right, it is worth raising your concerns directly before deciding to switch, since a strong working relationship often takes a few visits.
Can I go straight to a psychiatrist?

Usually, yes. Talkiatry does not require a referral to begin. You take the online assessment and get matched with a psychiatrist licensed in New York. Check with your insurer, though, since some plans still ask for a referral for coverage.
What is the 3 month rule in mental health?

There is no official three-month rule in psychiatry. People sometimes use the phrase to describe giving a new medication or routine enough time to show effects, which can take several weeks. Your psychiatrist sets follow-up timing based on your treatment and how you respond, not a fixed rule.
