At the heart of my clinical approach is a strong emphasis on establishing trust and building a therapeutic relationship to help patients achieve their goals. My practice focuses on medication management, which I typically offer in conjunction with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. Occasionally, I may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. The philosophy of my practice is to collaborate with patients to meet their specific needs and make an impact in various stages of their lives.

I received my medical degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and went on to complete my residency in psychiatry at Westchester Medical Center. Over my career, I have practiced in various settings, including inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, and inpatient substance abuse rehab/detox programs, where I treated patients with a variety of psychiatric illnesses.

I am a dedicated adult and child and adolescent psychiatrist who treats individuals of all ages. I use my strong foundation in internal medicine to handle complex cases requiring intricate medication management. This combination of skills allows for comprehensive care that addresses both mental and physical health challenges. My holistic approach ensures that each patient receives tailored treatment, fostering improved outcomes and overall well-being.

I was born and raised in Malta, where I attended medical school and worked in internal medicine for several years before moving to New York in 2017. I then completed a psychiatry residency at SUNY Downstate and stayed on for my Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship, which I completed in June 2024.

I believe that understanding and compassion are fundamental to effective psychiatric care. I provide engaged, patient-centered treatment, focusing on reducing symptoms and restoring well-being. My approach includes comprehensive evaluations, thoughtful medication management, supportive therapy, and the development of stress management skills. I treat youth ages 13–17 and adults with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. For adolescent patients, I include parental involvement during a portion of appointments to discuss progress and treatment plans.

During the first visit, patients can expect a comprehensive evaluation in which I take time to understand their symptoms, history, and goals. I foster a collaborative and compassionate environment, ensuring that treatment plans are personalized and patient-centered. My approach may include medication management, therapy recommendations, and stress management techniques to support patients in achieving their mental health and well-being goals.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry with over 20 years of clinical experience. I earned my medical degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine and completed my adult, child, and adolescent psychiatry training at NYU School of Medicine. I also have specialized training in psychodynamic psychotherapy from the New York Psychoanalytic Institute. Before joining Talkiatry, I served as Chief of Adult Behavioral Health at a busy urban community health clinic.

I practice a holistic approach, combining psychiatric medications with elements of psychotherapy and mindfulness. I offer individualized and comprehensive treatment plans that address the whole person, including lifestyle and social engagement, because the latest research findings show that both play an important role in mental and physical health. Education on mental illness and recommendations on diet and exercise are always discussed with my patients according to each individual's needs. I spend time listening to patients and make plans based on clinical evidence without an authoritative approach, taking into consideration the patient's level of comfort and views because, in my experience, the best outcomes are always reached when patients fully understand and agree with the management of their conditions. I have extensive experience in psychopharmacology and offer state-of-the-art medication management with compassion and empathy, with a focus on mood disorders and anxiety.

I am Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I obtained my medical degree with Laude from the University of Rome, La Sapienza, and completed my residency in Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. I have been in practice for more than twenty years and have extensive experience in general Adult Psychiatry. I have led clinical programs and taught medical students, residents, and fellows in psychiatry and addiction in various clinical settings, including private institutions and universities such as Yale School of Medicine. Prior to joining Talkiatry, I had my own in-person clinical services for over ten years and telehealth services over the past four years, treating patients suffering mainly from depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. During my time in private practice, I received the Compassionate Doctor Recognition (Vitals) and the Patient's Choice Awards (Vitals), both based on patients' reviews.

I am a Board-Eligible Psychiatrist who offers personable, compassionate, and empathetic care. I place significant importance on collaborating with patients and all relevant parties to gain a comprehensive understanding of the factors affecting a patient's life before making treatment recommendations. I also emphasize the importance of lifestyle, sleep, mindfulness, and nutrition, and their impact on overall mental health. I have experience treating anxiety disorder, traumatic disorders, depressive and bipolar disorders, substance use disorders, ADHD, OCD, and psychotic disorders. I utilize interpersonal and supportive psychotherapy, along with principles of motivational interviewing and cognitive-behavioral therapy, to foster resilience and meaningful change in partnership with other mental health professionals involved in patient care. I employ a range of therapeutic methods alongside medication management to ensure a thorough and holistic approach for every patient. My goal is to create a safe environment that encourages healing and wellness, enabling individuals to remain motivated and live their lives to the fullest.

I graduated from International American University College of Medicine and completed my residency at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, NJ. Prior to my formal training, I gained experience as a clinical researcher, emergency medical technician, and a registered nurse in both psychiatric and emergency departments. This diverse background equipped me with valuable tools to deliver empathetic care to a wide range of patients. During my residency, I also took on the role of chief resident, demonstrating a commitment to educating both patients and colleagues. Throughout my residency, I actively pursued additional training opportunities at various safety net hospitals in New Jersey to care for underserved populations.

I'm a board-certified adult psychiatrist. I completed my medical training at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine, then moved to New York for my psychiatric residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. During training, I gained extensive clinical experience across psychiatric inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings, which gave me the opportunity to treat patients of all ages and backgrounds. I also co-led a mindfulness group at the outpatient clinic, worked with students at Baruch College, and rotated with the Assertive Community Treatment team at MSBI.

Ultimately, I chose to specialize in outpatient care, focusing on treating patients with mood and anxiety disorders. While my practice primarily emphasizes medication management, I also incorporate supportive and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques in my sessions. If appropriate, I'll refer you for psychotherapy and collaborate with your therapist to support your care. I look forward to meeting and working with you to help you feel better.

At the heart of my clinical approach is a strong emphasis on establishing trust, building a therapeutic relationship to help patients achieve their goals, and helping people better understand their brain, its strengths, and vulnerabilities and how to use assessment and training to maximize everyone's unique emotional and cognitive capacity. My practice focuses on medication management. Typically, I offer this in conjunction with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. Occasionally I may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. I believe that every patient is unique and every situation different. I seek to bring a wealth of experience to bear but, above all, to do so with a personalized and compassionate focus on what will help everyone specifically, practically, effectively, and efficiently. I am especially happy to help people new to emotional help understand the value of different approaches.

I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist with a strong background in neuroscience and psychopharmacology who has been in practice for over 25 years. I received my medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School and went on to complete my residency in psychiatry at MGH in Boston. After completing training, I have worked in every setting from a Community Mental Health Center in rural VT, a General Hospital Department of Psychiatry in Waterbury CT, and a private psychiatric hospital in Massachusetts. I have held academic clinical appointments at Dartmouth, Yale, and Harvard and provided supervision to medical students, residents, APRNs, Social Workers, and Mental Health Clinicians. In addition to my direct clinical work, I have extensive experience with value-based care having worked with the behavioral divisions of CIGNA Behavioral Health, Optum Behavioral Health, and MCG. I have also been involved in the latest approaches made possible in mental health by the growth of direct-to-consumer services as part of digital transformation.

At the heart of my clinical approach is a strong emphasis on establishing trust, rapport, and therapeutic alliance to help persons to feel and live well and to progress toward their goals, both in treatment and in life. I begin with consultation, a compassionate, collaborative process of discovery that culminates in a working diagnostic impression and, in turn, treatment recommendations. For those with whom I engage in a treatment relationship, I provide psychoeducation, medication management, and individual psychotherapy, this last modality predominantly drawing from both psychodynamic and behavioral psychological models to tailor treatment to each patient. On some occasions, I may believe that additional therapy is needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome.

I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist who has been in practice for over ten years. I received my medical degree from Stanford University and went on to complete my residency in psychiatry at Harvard University. After completing training, I cultivated a private practice of psychiatry in San Francisco, California, treating persons with a variety of psychiatric illnesses, while also providing consultation and clinical supervision to psychotherapists in day-treatment and office-based practices. I then served as a psychiatry professor at the Florida Atlantic University Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine in Florida, where, as Associate Director of the Psychiatry Residency Training Program, I provided psychiatric inpatient treatment while bringing leadership, scholarship, teaching, supervision, and mentoring to psychiatry residents and medical students. Most recently, I worked as a senior medical officer/consultant psychiatrist in New Zealand's public health system, serving local communities with expert diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions. I also continued to supervise U.S.-based psychiatrists, along with New Zealand psychotherapists, in advanced and complex clinical psychopharmacology and psychotherapy.

I am known for my compassionate, thoughtful approach to psychiatry and my commitment to helping patients feel genuinely seen and supported. I take pride in getting to know each person as a whole, beyond just symptoms or diagnoses, and work to build on that from the very first session. I treat a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, bipolar and psychotic disorders. My approach is collaborative and patient-centered, with a strong focus on shared decision-making. Treatment often includes medication management and therapy techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. Sessions are always a judgment-free space where patients feel safe, respected, and empowered.

Originally from New York, I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Buffalo, earned my medical degree from St. George's University, and completed residency training at Northwell Health in New York and Connecticut.

During an initial visit, I conduct a thoughtful and collaborative assessment focused on understanding a patient's symptoms, experiences, and treatment goals. From there, I work closely with each person to develop a personalized plan, including medication options and other therapeutic strategies. My goal is to create a safe, respectful space where patients feel heard, empowered, and supported throughout their care.

I prefer a holistic approach that takes the time to know the whole patient, incorporating biological, psychological, social, and cultural perspectives in crafting a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan. I practice medication management combined with supportive therapy, typically delivered within 30-minute sessions. Elements of psychodynamic, dialectical behavior, and cognitive-behavioral therapy are also incorporated into sessions based on a patient's individual needs. If additional therapy is needed, I will recommend the addition of an individual therapist to the patient's treatment team. My primary focus is working with patients with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD. I also value working with people adjusting to changes in their lives, whether it be grieving the loss of a loved one, changes in employment, relationships, or adjusting to changes that come with age.

I am a board certified adult psychiatrist. I completed my undergraduate training at Yale University and received my medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. I completed my residency training at the Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School Adult Psychiatry Training Program. Having dedicated my career to adult outpatient psychiatry, I have worked with patients from a wide range of ages, cultures, ethnicities, and social settings across the New York City area. Prior to joining Talkiatry, I was an Assistant Professor at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and served as Director of the Adult Outpatient Psychiatric Department, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, and Collaborative Care Departments at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. I also had a small practice near my home.

I have had a lifelong interest in meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. This interest has taken me as far away as the townships of Cape Town, South Africa and as close as my local diner, and it edifies the work I do with patients.

I provide patient-centered care with an emphasis on medication management, psychoeducation, and lifestyle adjustments. I typically provide supportive or integrative therapy along with medication management, but some cases will require the addition of a therapist to the treatment team. As an outpatient psychiatrist, I have an extensive history of treating patients of all ages with a wide variety of psychiatric disorders, with an emphasis on mood and anxiety disorders.

I am a Staff Psychiatrist at Talkiatry, certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Psychiatry, and have been practicing for three and a half years. I received a Bachelor's of Medical Science from the University of Western Ontario in Canada and my Medical Degree from Ross University. FAQs

How does Talkiatry work?

Talkiatry is an online psychiatry practice designed to make high-quality mental health care more accessible. We’re 100% virtual, in-network with major insurance plans, and first appointments are typically available in days.

To get started, you’ll complete a quick online assessment to tell us what you’re looking for. We’ll match you with psychiatrists who are licensed in your state, in-network with your insurance, and experienced in treating your concerns. You’ll choose the clinician you’d like to work with.

Your first visit is an in-depth evaluation where your psychiatrist will listen, provide a diagnosis, and work with you to create a treatment plan tailored to your goals and preferences. You’ll continue seeing the same clinician over time, adjusting your plan as your needs evolve. Our team is always here to help with scheduling, insurance, and questions about your care.

Do you provide therapy?

Care at Talkiatry starts with psychiatry. If you already have a Talkiatry psychiatrist, they can refer you to one of our therapists if you’ve decided together that therapy is the right next step. However, you can’t see a Talkiatry therapist if you aren’t already seeing one of our psychiatrists.

What should I do if I’m having an emergency?

Talkiatry does not provide emergency care. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please visit your nearest emergency room, call 911, or call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.

How much will my visit cost?

The majority of our visits cost patients $25 or less after insurance*, but your exact out-of-pocket cost depends on your plan. The best way to get a clear estimate is to contact your insurance provider directly. Here’s what to ask them:

  • Do I have mental health benefits that include outpatient psychiatry?
  • Is Talkiatry in-network for my plan?
  • What’s my copay or coinsurance for outpatient psychiatry visits?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, how close am I to meeting it?
  • Do I have an out-of-pocket maximum? If so, how close am I to reaching it?
  • Are virtual or telehealth psychiatry visits covered the same as in-person care?
  • Is prior authorization required for outpatient psychiatry?
  • Can you provide a cost estimate for an in-network psychiatry visit using CPT code 99204?
  • Can you provide a cost estimate for an in-network psychotherapy visit using CPT code 90833?

*Includes all patient costs from 9/24-9/25: copayment, deductible, coinsurance, and $0 payments. Excludes missed appt. fees.  Your medical visit costs can vary depending on insurance coverage.

What if I don’t want to take medication?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors, and medication is often part of how they treat mental health conditions. At Talkiatry, your psychiatrist will start by listening and discussing your options with you. Medication is always your choice, but if it’s not something you’re open to considering, we may not be the best fit for ongoing care at this time.

How do I know if Talkiatry can help me?

Talkiatry provides virtual, in-network psychiatric care for people struggling with mild to moderate mental health issues. Here’s what we can help with:

  • Anxiety
  • ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder)
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Child & adolescent care
  • Depression
  • OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder)
  • Pregnancy & postpartum care
  • PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder)
  • Substance use disorder

Our goal is to connect you with the best possible care for you. At your first visit, your doctor will confirm whether Talkiatry is the right fit. If they recommend in-person or higher-level care, they’ll guide you to the appropriate resources.

What if my insurance changes from Blue Cross Blue Shield?

Insurance changes are common, and we’re here to help. Talkiatry is in-network with thousands of plans. If your insurance changes, reach out to a Care Coordinator to update your information and confirm your coverage by calling 833-351-TALK (8255).

Do I still take the assessment if I’m already diagnosed with depression?

Yes. Our online assessment is an important part of how we match you with the right psychiatrist. Your first visit will include a thorough evaluation so your psychiatrist can confirm your diagnosis and tailor your treatment plan to your current needs.
