I approach therapy in an integrative, client-centered manner, implementing a variety of therapeutic techniques including mindfulness, dialectical behavioral, acceptance and commitment concepts, psychoeducation, and trauma-informed care. I value the therapeutic relationship and strive to provide a safe, accepting atmosphere to ensure my clients feel heard, validated, and empowered. My philosophy is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a transdiagnostic model that allows me to provide high quality care to my patients. An area of interest for me includes working with young adults struggling with co-occurring disorders.

I hold a license as a professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania and am board-certified in clinical mental health counseling by the National Board for Certified Counselors. I received my master's degree from Messiah College, and my undergraduate work was completed at the Pennsylvania State University. I have over 15 years of experience working with a broad range of individuals at varying levels of care and clinical severity. I have provided clinical care to a variety of individuals ranging from those struggling with complex trauma and substance use disorders to children, adolescents, and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, mood instability, and adjustment difficulties related to life changes. I have expertise in a variety of counseling settings including outpatient, partial hospitalization, residential, and in-home, and I utilize multiple treatment modalities including individual, group, and couples/family therapy. As the clinical coordinator of Silvermist Recovery, a premier residential treatment facility, I have been able to expand my clinical skills.

My approach is to educate clients on their mental health, available pharmacologic and psychotherapeutic options, and to collaborate with them in formulating an evidence-based treatment plan. I have a wide range of experience in treating various mental illnesses including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, and OCD. I offer medication management in 30-minute follow-up visits informed by my psychotherapy experience. Occasionally, I may believe additional therapy would be beneficial, and therefore, I recommend adding a therapist to your care team for the best results.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist trained in Adult Psychiatry. I completed my residency at Yale University and have received specialized training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy at Columbia University and NYU. Over the past three years, I have worked in college student health centers and private practice.

I place significant importance on collaborating with patients and all relevant parties to gain a comprehensive understanding of the factors affecting a patient's life before making treatment recommendations. I also emphasize the importance of lifestyle, sleep, mindfulness, and nutrition, and their impact on overall mental health. I have experience treating anxiety disorder, traumatic disorders, depressive and bipolar disorders, substance use disorders, ADHD, OCD, and psychotic disorders. I graduated from International American University College of Medicine and completed my residency at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, NJ. This diverse background equipped me with valuable tools to deliver empathetic care to a wide range of patients. During my residency, I also took on the role of chief resident, demonstrating a commitment to educating both patients and colleagues. Throughout my residency, I actively pursued additional training opportunities at various safety net hospitals in New Jersey to care for underserved populations.

I am known for my compassionate, thoughtful approach to psychiatry and my commitment to helping patients feel genuinely seen and supported. I take pride in getting to know each person as a whole, beyond just symptoms or diagnoses, and work to build on that from the very first session. I treat a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, bipolar and psychotic disorders. My approach is collaborative and patient-centered, with a strong focus on shared decision-making. Treatment often includes medication management and therapy techniques like cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. Originally from New York, I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Buffalo, earned my medical degree from St. George's University, and completed residency training at Northwell Health in New York and Connecticut.

During an initial visit, I conduct a thoughtful and collaborative assessment focused on understanding a patient's symptoms, experiences, and treatment goals. From there, I work closely with each person to develop a personalized plan, including medication options and other therapeutic strategies. My goal is to create a safe, respectful space where patients feel heard, empowered, and supported throughout their care.

I'm a board-certified adult psychiatrist. I completed my medical training at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine, then moved to New York for my psychiatric residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. During training, I gained extensive clinical experience across psychiatric inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings, which gave me the opportunity to treat patients of all ages and backgrounds. I also co-led a mindfulness group at the outpatient clinic, worked with students at Baruch College, and rotated with the Assertive Community Treatment team at MSBI.

Ultimately, I chose to specialize in outpatient care, focusing on treating patients with mood and anxiety disorders. While my practice primarily emphasizes medication management, I also incorporate supportive and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques in my sessions. If appropriate, I'll refer you for psychotherapy and collaborate with your therapist to support your care. I look forward to meeting and working with you to help you feel better.

FAQs

How does Talkiatry work?

Talkiatry is an online psychiatry practice designed to make high-quality mental health care more accessible. We’re 100% virtual, in-network with major insurance plans, and first appointments are typically available in days.

To get started, you’ll complete a quick online assessment to tell us what you’re looking for. We’ll match you with psychiatrists who are licensed in your state, in-network with your insurance, and experienced in treating your concerns. You’ll choose the clinician you’d like to work with.

Your first visit is an in-depth evaluation where your psychiatrist will listen, provide a diagnosis, and work with you to create a treatment plan tailored to your goals and preferences. You’ll continue seeing the same clinician over time, adjusting your plan as your needs evolve. Our team is always here to help with scheduling, insurance, and questions about your care.

Do you provide therapy?

Care at Talkiatry starts with psychiatry. If you already have a Talkiatry psychiatrist, they can refer you to one of our therapists if you’ve decided together that therapy is the right next step. However, you can’t see a Talkiatry therapist if you aren’t already seeing one of our psychiatrists.

What should I do if I’m having an emergency?

Talkiatry does not provide emergency care. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please visit your nearest emergency room, call 911, or call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.

How much will my visit cost?

The majority of our visits cost patients $25 or less after insurance*, but your exact out-of-pocket cost depends on your plan. The best way to get a clear estimate is to contact your insurance provider directly. Here’s what to ask them:

  • Do I have mental health benefits that include outpatient psychiatry?
  • Is Talkiatry in-network for my plan?
  • What’s my copay or coinsurance for outpatient psychiatry visits?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, how close am I to meeting it?
  • Do I have an out-of-pocket maximum? If so, how close am I to reaching it?
  • Are virtual or telehealth psychiatry visits covered the same as in-person care?
  • Is prior authorization required for outpatient psychiatry?
  • Can you provide a cost estimate for an in-network psychiatry visit using CPT code 99204?
  • Can you provide a cost estimate for an in-network psychotherapy visit using CPT code 90833?

*Includes all patient costs from 9/24-9/25: copayment, deductible, coinsurance, and $0 payments. Excludes missed appt. fees.  Your medical visit costs can vary depending on insurance coverage.

What if I don’t want to take medication?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors, and medication is often part of how they treat mental health conditions. At Talkiatry, your psychiatrist will start by listening and discussing your options with you. Medication is always your choice, but if it’s not something you’re open to considering, we may not be the best fit for ongoing care at this time.

How do I know if Talkiatry can help me?

Talkiatry provides virtual, in-network psychiatric care for people struggling with mild to moderate mental health issues. Here’s what we can help with:

  • Anxiety
  • ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder)
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Child & adolescent care
  • Depression
  • OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder)
  • Pregnancy & postpartum care
  • PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder)
  • Substance use disorder

Our goal is to connect you with the best possible care for you. At your first visit, your doctor will confirm whether Talkiatry is the right fit. If they recommend in-person or higher-level care, they’ll guide you to the appropriate resources.

What if my insurance changes from Cigna?

Insurance changes are common, and we’re here to help. Talkiatry is in-network with thousands of plans. If your insurance changes, reach out to a Care Coordinator to update your information and confirm your coverage by calling 833-351-TALK (8255).

Do I still take the assessment if I’m already diagnosed with PTSD?

Yes. Our online assessment is an important part of how we match you with the right psychiatrist. Your first visit will include a thorough evaluation so your psychiatrist can confirm your diagnosis and tailor your treatment plan to your current needs.
