I am an adult general psychiatrist and a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I focus on collaborative and evidence-based care. I believe it is imperative to form a therapeutic relationship with each individual and work together as a team to formulate the best treatment plan. My passion is to educate, empower, and support. I specialize in medication management and brief psychotherapy.

I received my medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed my residency at The Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Summa HealthSystem in my hometown of Akron, OH. Upon completion of residency, I relocated to Charlotte, NC to start my career as the Lead Psychiatrist at Novant Health Psychiatric Associates- Matthews. I have experience treating various patient populations. My areas of focus have been perinatal and postpartum depression and anxiety, and I have also worked with adults with co-occurring substance use disorders. Special interests include women's health and minority mental health disparities.

My clinical interests include mood and anxiety disorders, PTSD, and OCD. I am passionate about incorporating psychotherapeutic tools into my practice, including supportive psychotherapy. I take a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental approach to care, and my goal is to create a safe and supportive space where patients feel heard and empowered to take an active role in their treatment, using a combination of supportive psychotherapy and medication management.

I am a general psychiatrist who holds a bachelor's degree in psychology. I completed my psychiatry training at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.

During the first few sessions, I will take time to get to know the patient, their history, current concerns, and what they hope to achieve through treatment. Together, we will develop a comprehensive plan that may include psychiatric medications and supportive therapy. Follow-up visits are typically focused on checking in, adjusting treatments if necessary, and continuing to build on progress.

Rather than focus primarily on illness or problems, my approach is to first evaluate patients comprehensively, then utilize what's learned from this to treat and empower them to make and then practice choices that lead to improved health and well-being, using an integrative model that recognizes that mental, physical, social, and spiritual health are one.

I am American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology certified and a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. A skilled psychopharmacologist and psychotherapist, I have over 30 years' experience successfully helping people overcome a diverse range of emotional, psychiatric, and addiction challenges.

I was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and am a graduate of Augustana College. I obtained my MD at the USD School of Medicine. My residency was at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, where I was trained in both psychotherapy and biological management of psychiatric challenges. Following residency training, I continued to work with UAMS and the State of Arkansas in research and program development, focusing on implementing and then teaching novel strengths-focused care for people with severe mental illness for the first 12 years of my career. Later, I moved with my wife and three children to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and have since been in clinical practice and leadership roles in inpatient, outpatient, and telehealth psychiatric care settings.

I earned my medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed Psychiatry Residency and Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. I have practiced in inpatient, intensive outpatient, and outpatient settings and have subspecialty training in Addiction Psychiatry, Addiction Medicine, and treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. I am also a Gestalt Professional Certified Coach through the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist. I earned my medical degree from Touro University Nevada and completed my residency at Unity Health White County Medical Center. I further specialized by completing a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at the Cleveland Clinic, where I gained extensive experience working within multidisciplinary healthcare teams, particularly focused on psychiatric care for patients with complex medical conditions.

My goal when working with patients is to not come to a generic diagnosis; rather, it is to get to know about the client and try and manage their symptoms in the best way possible. I enjoy getting to learn about patients and working collaboratively to provide the best treatment possible, be it medications or talk therapy. I have vast experience treating Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, among many others.

I graduated residency from University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve University in 2015. After residency, I worked at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center as a staff psychiatrist. I eventually took on the role of Mental Health Lead Psychiatrist and Interim Clinic Director at the Tomball VA Outpatient Clinic. I then transferred to a telepsychiatry role at VISN 15, providing mental health coverage for rural areas in Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois. I have over 15 years of experience in treating different mental health conditions and am currently board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

I reside in Houston, Texas and enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, and watching/playing sports such as Football, Basketball, and Soccer.

I completed medical school and psychiatry residency at Marshall University's School of Medicine, and I have additional training in neuropsychiatry and geriatric psychiatry. During my training, I was actively involved in teaching medical students and residents; my most frequent lectures included LGBT and transgender mental health. I have published papers, presented at conferences, and served as an ad-hoc reviewer for medical journals.

I took an adventurous path to Talkiatry. After perhaps thinking a little too hard about Intro to Philosophy in college — "the unexamined life is not worth living" — I first used my chemistry degree to work in pharmaceutical research. I changed course, working in computer network engineering, before deciding to find a more meaningful path. I worked as an EMT, then earned a Master's in Physiology before finally landing in medical school at Ohio State.

Finding a surprising interest in psychiatry, I stayed at Ohio State for residency, and then a fellowship in forensic psychiatry. I am board-certified in both Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. I previously worked as a forensic psychiatrist and evaluator at Ohio's maximum-security state psychiatric facility, as an attending psychiatrist running an inpatient unit for violent or dangerous patients, performing court-ordered evaluations, writing reports, and testifying when necessary. I have also worked as a consultation-liaison psychiatrist, performing psychiatric consults at several general hospitals in Central Ohio's largest hospital system.

I found great enjoyment in teaching successive generations of residents and medical students, serving as an adjunct faculty member at Ohio State, Ohio University, Wright State, and OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital. I am excited for the next chapter of my journey, exploring another area of psychiatry at Talkiatry.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in adult psychiatry. My practice focuses primarily on medication management but often incorporates aspects of supportive, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral therapies into my 30-minute follow-up visits. I received my undergraduate degrees in Human Biology and Spanish from Michigan State University. I then completed my medical education and a master's degree in medical humanities and bioethics at Northwestern University, and completed my adult psychiatry residency at the University of Washington. My approach to mental health is integrative, with the utilization of complementary and alternative treatments such as yoga, lifestyle changes, and nutritional interventions in addition to traditional medication management and therapy. I prefer to focus on the overall health and well-being of an individual, rather than just treating symptoms. My practice focuses on medication management along with elements of therapy from different modalities, such as supportive and cognitive behavioral therapy, that are patient-tailored. I understand the importance of psychotherapy and may ask to bring in a therapist into your treatment team to provide the best care and outcome. After completing my undergraduate degree in Biology at Ohio Northern University, I received my medical degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. I went on to complete my residency in psychiatry at The Ohio State University Medical Center. I also completed yoga teacher training and presented nationally at the APA in 2019 regarding the benefits of yoga for depression. I am a member of the American Psychiatric Association, Ohio Psychiatric Physician's Association, and Psychiatry Society of Central Ohio.
