Ernesto Gonzalez, MD

Staff Psychiatrist

Dr. Ernesto Gonzalez is a board certified adult psychiatrist. He completed his undergraduate training at Yale University and received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his residency training at the Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School Adult Psychiatry Training Program. Dr. Gonzalez prefers a holistic approach that takes the time to know the whole patient, incorporating biological, psychological, social, and cultural perspectives in crafting a comprehensive, individualized, treatment plan. He practices medication management combined with supportive therapy, typically delivered within 30 minute sessions. Elements of psychodynamic, dialectical behavior and cognitive-behavioral therapy will also be incorporated into sessions based on a patient's individual needs. If additional therapy is needed, Dr. Gonzalez will recommend the addition of an individual therapist to the patient's treatment team. Having dedicated his career to adult outpatient psychiatry, Dr. Gonzalez has worked with patients from a wide range of ages, cultures, ethnicities, and social settings across the New York City area. His primary focus is working with patients with depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD. He also values working with people adjusting to changes in their lives, whether it be grieving the loss of a loved one, changes in employment, relationships, or adjusting to changes that come with age. Prior to joining Talkiatry, Dr. Gonzalez was an Assistant Professor at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and served as Director of the Adult Outpatient Psychiatric Department, Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, and Collaborative Care Departments at Woodhull Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. He also had a small practice near his home. Dr. Gonzalez has also had a lifelong interest in meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. This interest has taken him as far away as the townships of Cape Town, South Africa and as close as his local diner, and it edifies the work he does with patients.

NeKeisha Hutchinson, LPC

Nekeisha Hutchinson, LPC, earned her Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Post University in 2017 and has worked with a diverse demographic in a clinical capacity including outpatient and in-home settings conducting both individual and family therapy, within the Department of Corrections with clients struggling with substance use challenges and crisis services over the past seven years. Prior to becoming a therapist, Nekeisha spent 10 years working in early childhood education and seven years working as a Family Support Specialist in homes with both prenatal and postnatal mothers providing support in attachment building and assisting them in securing community resources. Nekeisha has experience working with adolescents, adults, senior citizens and families. Nekeisha uses a variety of evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT) to help clients develop appropriate tools to address their challenges and live more fulfilling lives.

Nekeisha Hutchinson has experience working with youth, adolescents, adults, the elderly and families. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, parenting challenges, stress management and conflict resolution. Nekeisha utilizes evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and solution focused therapy (SFT) to enable clients to develop effective coping skills to overcome their challenges. My communication style is direct and assertive, and I use open-ended questions and active listening so that clients can express themselves freely. I enjoy providing a safe environment for clients so that they can share their narratives while receiving empathy and positive regards. I place great effort in fostering collaboration in an effort to gain understanding of the situation and the symptoms in order to form an appropriate diagnosis, identifying goals, working together in treatment planning and monitor progress. Pamela Walkiewicz, LPC

Ms. Walkiewicz is a licensed professional counselor and is certified by the NBCC. She also has Certifications in Telehealth EMDR, and as a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider. Her position at Talkiatry is that of a psychotherapist who works along with a licensed psychiatrist in the states of Pennsylvania and New York. In her career of over 25 years, her areas of focus are: child/adolescents/adults. Pamela offers modalities in CBT, DBT, Trauma Focused CBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Problem Solving Therapy, Psychoanalytical Therapies, and Adult ADHD. Also trained in modalities for specialty groups such as LGBTQ+. Family/couples Therapy, and Personality Disorders. Also has experience with DID, and Depersonalization. Mayra Valdivia Carlisle, DO

Dr. Mayra Valdivia Carlisle is a bilingual Spanish and English-speaking board-certified Adult Psychiatrist and Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. She earned her master's degree in public health and her medical degree from Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences. She went on to complete her residency training in Adult Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and subsequently completed her fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She was awarded the Excellence in Public Health Award by the U.S. Public Health Service and Surgeon General for her work addressing health disparities in healthcare. Dr. Carlisle has extensive experience in outpatient and community mental health settings.

Dr. Carlisle provides patient-centered and compassionate psychiatric care combining medication management, psychotherapeutic methods, and lifestyle modifications to create a unique treatment plan. She recognizes that each person benefits from a personalized and holistic approach to healing. Dr. Carlisle specializes in treating diverse psychiatric conditions including ADHD, anxiety disorders, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder in children, adolescents, and adults.

Devon Beal, PMHNP

With 18 years of adult psychiatry experience, Devon Beal, PMHNP brings 5 core features to her outpatient practice through Talkiatry: Respect, Safety, Active Listening, Collaboration and Partnership with the client.  Devon's practice is client-centered, trauma- and LGBTQA+ - informed.  Her style is to be authentic, collaborative, direct and compassionate.

Devon Beal, PMHNP received her master's in nursing degree from Yale School of Nursing with a concentration in Adult Psychiatry.  She is board certified by ANCC as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist and an Adult Nurse Practitioner.  She has worked in Psychiatric Urgent Care in San Francisco, Inpatient Psychiatry at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Outpatient and detox care in Fall River, MA, Boston VA Methadone Clinic, Geriatric Psychiatry Inpatient Service and most recently at Day Treatment programming in Central MA.  This breadth of experience across the psychiatric - addiction continuum of care helps to assess accurate symptom acuteness and provide effective medication strategies.  She has experience with Depression, Anxiety disorders, Bipolar Disorders, PTSD, Psychotic disorders and Personality Disorders.

A new client interview will consist of a 45-55 minute interview where the reason for entering treatment, current symptoms, psychiatric history, medication history, and a social history will be assessed. Provisional diagnoses or existing diagnoses will be discussed, along with client goals for treatment. There will be an opportunity for medication initiation or changes if mutually agreed upon.  Devon's goals in providing care is to make the client comfortable, to offer accurate symptom assessment and diagnostic clarity, and to provide medication management strategies for symptom and functional improvement.  Follow-up appointments will typically be 30 minutes with a portion dedicated to medication management and a portion to supportive psychotherapy.
