Biography
Angela Wheeler, LPC, LPCC, has worked in the mental health field since 2008. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Georgia Southern University and a Master's in Professional Counseling from South University. She has experience in community mental health, outpatient, private practice, residential, inpatient, crisis intervention, Intensive Family Intervention, and Assertive Community Treatment, serving children, adolescents, and adults. She is trained in CBT, DBT, trauma/PTSD, solution-focused, and reality therapy.
Angela begins by actively listening to understand each patient's concerns, goals, and what they hope to achieve in therapy. She believes therapy should be centered on the patient's needs and strives to create a warm, calm, and welcoming environment where patients feel supported. While therapy can be challenging, she provides practical tools, resources, and encouragement throughout the therapeutic journey.
Angela starts with a comprehensive, conversational assessment to understand each patient's history, current concerns, and goals while building rapport. Together, they develop an individualized treatment plan that evolves as needs and progress change. Her goal is to make therapy a safe, comfortable, and collaborative experience where patients feel empowered to grow.
