I take a no-nonsense approach and pride myself on collaborating with patients to attain their goals of optimum psychiatric health, believing that the cornerstone of a healthy partnership with any patient is a holistic approach. Listening with an open mind and heart while collaborating with my patients to provide the correct medication management and supportive care has always been the key for me. After graduating from medical school, I completed my internship year in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, followed by two years of neurology residency at Barrow Neurological Institute before completing psychiatric residency at Maricopa Medical Center in 2005. I then spent the majority of my time caring for SMI/seriously mentally ill patients with a mantra of "propelling people forward to wellness." Working on the supportive level of care for this population honed my skills to care for the highest level of outpatient care through ACT/assertive community treatment. In 2023, I extended my expertise and skills to the general population to include telehealth management of my patients.

I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with a passion for helping others achieve their goals through medication management and psychotherapy. I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and supportive therapy, and I have experience supporting individuals with depression, anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and ADHD. I am an LGBTQIA+ affirming provider who believes in empowering individuals in their lives. I view each person as more than a diagnosis and approach care through a client-centered, holistic lens, committed to providing evidence-based, compassionate treatment for mental health conditions to enhance quality of life.

I earned my Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in psychiatry from Stony Brook University and a nursing practice degree from Chatham University. My previous experience includes two years at Columbia University Medical Center on an inpatient psychiatric unit and four years on the medical consultation-liaison psychiatric team, where I treated patients with a range of acute and chronic medical conditions while providing medication management and psychotherapy. My work at Columbia involved treating a wide spectrum of psychiatric conditions with the goal of achieving symptom remission. Additionally, I have practiced at a private clinic in New York City, focusing on interventional techniques such as TMS and ketamine therapy, alongside medication management and psychotherapy.

Through mindful techniques and compassionate care, I am dedicated to the well-being of my clients.

I have additional interests in trauma work; women's mental health, specifically in the peripartum period; and in working with individuals facing progressive diseases or terminal diagnoses.

I am a recent graduate of the psychiatry residency program at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. During my residency, I sought out additional training in psychodynamic therapy and EMDR. I participated in the Psych Scholars track, which provided in-depth education and supervision around therapy and psychoanalytic theory. This allows me to better understand the role of both medication and therapy, to utilize, when to couple them, and what limitations they may have.

I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), I have over 10 years of experience providing mental health care in psychiatric emergency rooms, outpatient psychiatry, and telehealth settings. I am committed to delivering comprehensive and accessible care that supports patients across diverse needs and backgrounds.

Dr. Mary Stephenson is a board-certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with more than 25 years of clinical experience working with this population. Dr. Stephenson's practice focuses on medication management. She believes that the support and involvement of the family are an integral part of the treatment of the client. Additionally, more therapy support may be needed on occasion, and the recommendation to bring a psychotherapist on the care team may occur to provide an optimal outcome. She received her medical degree from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She completed her psychiatry residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and her child and adolescent training at the Bingham Child Guidance Center, also part of the University of Louisville, in Louisville, Kentucky. After completion of her training, she moved to Colorado where she worked at The Cleo Wallace Center, in Westminster, CO, providing care for hospitalized youth, and clients in the Day Treatment and Residential setting. In 2000, Dr. Stephenson became the primary Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist on the outpatient team at Denver Health Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. Her role was providing diagnostic evaluations, and medication management in Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), and the hospital clinic, working closely with residents, child fellows, and other trainees. She had an academic appointment through the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She treated a varied demographic and had a wide range of diagnoses in the child and adolescent population. From 2016-2021, she worked at Intermountain Health Center in Tucson, AZ providing care in the outpatient setting of the community mental health center. The care was a hybrid model of "in-person” and Telehealth treatment of children and adolescents with various disorders, with an emphasis on diagnostic evaluations of Autism and Autism spectrum disorders.‍

I have a special interest in the care of adults with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and PTSD. I have a passion for incorporating a holistic, evidenced-based approach to improve the mental health needs of each individual client through medication and therapy while emphasizing practical lifestyle changes such as the incorporation of exercise, healthy nutrition, and stress management techniques.

I am a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I earned my Master of Science Degree from The Ohio State University and my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from The Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, Oregon. My background includes both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, crisis stabilization, and Consult-Liaison Psychiatry.

My practice focuses on medication management and providing psychoeducation to my patients. If indicated, I may determine that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. I strongly believe in tailoring treatments through a holistic and patient-centered approach based on individual and multi-faceted histories. I have experience treating a large variety of mental health conditions across a variety of populations.

I am board certified in adult psychiatry and have been in practice for over 15 years. I completed my residency at Banner Good Samaritan (now Banner University) Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. After completing my residency training, I worked with the severely mentally ill population for several years, then transitioned to a private practice setting that offered the interventional options of transcranial magnetic stimulation and ketamine infusion. Most recently, I worked at the Phoenix VA treating veterans, with a focus on PTSD, depression, and anxiety. I have held an academic appointment at the University of Arizona Medical School and have spent my professional career supervising and teaching medical students and psychiatry residents.

Although I specialize in medication management of psychiatric conditions, supportive psychotherapy is often incorporated into my visits, as I believe a combined approach leads to a more robust treatment response. Additionally, I aim to enhance wellness through discussion of lifestyle modifications that emphasize quality sleep, a healthy diet, and regular exercise.

Initial appointments consist of a psychiatric evaluation and discussion of evidence-based treatment options. If telehealth is deemed to be an appropriate modality and pharmacotherapy is recommended, discussion will consist of selecting a suitable medication to address target symptoms while minimizing adverse effects. Follow-up visits focus on assessing treatment response and adjusting regimens to optimize outcomes.

I have worked almost exclusively in community mental health centers in Iowa and Arizona for the last 15 years. I have been providing telepsychiatry services since 2013 across several states, serving hospitals, community mental health centers, local jails, and residential treatment facilities. I was the lead prescriber for Living Out Loud, a mental health program exclusively for LGBTQ+ persons. I have experience working with patients with comorbid mental health and HIV+ status, as well as a long history of supporting individuals with severe mental illness. I was also part of the pilot program for Integrated Behavioral Health Home, integrating primary care into treatment for patients with severe mental illness.

I received my medical degree from Alexandria University and completed my psychiatry residency at Stony Brook University Hospital. I am double board certified in both general adult psychiatry and consultation & liaison psychiatry with over 20 years of clinical experience. After serving as chief resident, I joined Stony Brook University and became Associate Professor in clinical psychiatry. During my tenure at Stony Brook, I served as director of the ECT service, treating many patients with complex psychiatric disorders, including treatment-resistant depression, severe bipolar disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, and post traumatic stress disorder. I also served as director of the medical student psychiatry clerkship, where I received numerous teaching awards including Alpha Omega Alpha and the Aesculapius Award for Excellence in Medical Education. I have multiple publications and abstracts presented.

My background spans outpatient, community, forensic, and crisis psychiatry, including leadership roles with Florida's Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) and Multi-Disciplinary Forensic Teams.

I went to college at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY, where I received my degree in Microbiology. I completed my medical education at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Spartanburg, SC, and completed my residency training at Creighton University School of Medicine-Valleywise Health in Phoenix, AZ. I served as vice chief resident during my residency training. I also hold a post-graduate certification in psychiatric mental health from Washburn University. I practiced family medicine for 18 years before transitioning to psychiatric mental health in 2022, and my background in both physical and mental health gives me a holistic perspective on care.

My qualifications include a B.A. in biology from Harvard University and an M.D. from Tufts School of Medicine. I completed psychiatry residencies at Mt. Sinai and Brown and am board certified in both Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. My four decades of practice have exposed me to an eclectic range of cultures, ethnicities, and pathologies in a wide variety of settings, from solo practice to regional medical centers to academic institutions. This breadth and depth of clinical and life experience have helped me transcend cultural biases and institutional conventions and to more clearly see each patient as a uniquely complex and lovable individual.
