My primary focus is on medication management, though I also have experience working in four different outpatient clinics where I have gained expertise in multiple different therapy modalities. If appropriate, I will refer you for psychotherapy and collaborate with your therapist to support your care. I appreciate the importance of fostering a meaningful therapeutic relationship, and my goal is to make every patient feel welcomed in a non-judgmental treatment environment. I also take a holistic approach, as I understand that good health creates a sense of overall well-being and improved mental health. I strongly emphasize the importance of mindfulness, self-compassion, exercise, nutrition, and interpersonal relationships throughout treatment.

I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist and board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist. I completed my medical education at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, then completed my residency in adult psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, and went on to complete my child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at NYU Langone and Bellevue Hospital. During this time, I also taught a course titled Love Actually at NYU School of Arts and Science. During training, I gained extensive clinical experience in psychiatric inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings, allowing me the opportunity to treat patients of all ages and backgrounds in numerous busy hospitals in New York City.

I focus on medication management and offer this in conjunction with supportive therapy, cognitive-behavioral techniques, a focus on nutritional psychiatry, and 30-minute follow-up visits. I integrate nutrition, physical activity, and mindfulness techniques alongside pharmacotherapy to achieve a well-rounded approach to mental health.

I am double board-certified in general psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry. I received my medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, then moved to New York to complete my residency training at Mount Sinai Beth Israel, where I stayed to complete my fellowship in geriatric psychiatry. After my fellowship, I worked at Woodhull Hospital as an attending before becoming unit chief and running their Special Pathogens Unit during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I practice a holistic approach, combining psychiatric medications with elements of psychotherapy and mindfulness. I offer individualized and comprehensive treatment plans that address the whole person, including lifestyle and social engagement, because the latest research findings show that both play an important role in mental and physical health. Education on mental illness and recommendations on diet and exercise are always discussed with my patients according to each individual's needs. I spend time listening to patients and make plans based on clinical evidence without an authoritative approach, taking into consideration the patient's level of comfort and views because, in my experience, the best outcomes are always reached when patients fully understand and agree with the management of their conditions. I have extensive experience in psychopharmacology and offer state-of-the-art medication management with compassion and empathy, with a focus on mood disorders and anxiety.

I am Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I obtained my medical degree with Laude from the University of Rome, La Sapienza, and completed my residency in Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. I have been in practice for more than twenty years and have extensive experience in general Adult Psychiatry. I have led clinical programs and taught medical students, residents, and fellows in psychiatry and addiction in various clinical settings, including private institutions and universities such as Yale School of Medicine. Prior to joining Talkiatry, I had my own in-person clinical services for over ten years and telehealth services over the past four years, treating patients suffering mainly from depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety. During my time in private practice, I received the Compassionate Doctor Recognition (Vitals) and the Patient's Choice Awards (Vitals), both based on patients' reviews.

As an outpatient psychiatrist, I have an extensive history of treating patients of all ages with a wide variety of psychiatric disorders, with an emphasis on mood and anxiety disorders.

I am a Staff Psychiatrist at Talkiatry, certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Adult Psychiatry, and have been practicing for three and a half years. I'm a board-certified adult psychiatrist. I completed my medical training at the University of California Irvine School of Medicine, then moved to New York for my psychiatric residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. I also co-led a mindfulness group at the outpatient clinic, worked with students at Baruch College, and rotated with the Assertive Community Treatment team at MSBI.

Ultimately, I chose to specialize in outpatient care, focusing on treating patients with mood and anxiety disorders. My practice focuses on medication management, which I typically offer in conjunction with supportive or insight-oriented therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. My primary focus is treating adult outpatients with mood or psychotic disorders, though I have treated a wide range of adult patients throughout my career. On occasion, I will determine that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome.

I am board-certified in Adult Psychiatry and have been practicing for over 25 years. I completed my undergraduate studies at Tufts University, received my medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, and continued with Temple for my residency in adult psychiatry. I then began working exclusively in outpatient settings, joined NewPoint Behavioral Health Care, and served as Medical Director before and after their merge with Acenda Integrated Health. At the heart of my clinical approach is a strong emphasis on establishing trust, building a therapeutic relationship to help patients achieve their goals, and helping people better understand their brain, its strengths, and vulnerabilities and how to use assessment and training to maximize everyone's unique emotional and cognitive capacity. My practice focuses on medication management. Typically, I offer this in conjunction with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. Occasionally I may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. I believe that every patient is unique and every situation different. I seek to bring a wealth of experience to bear but, above all, to do so with a personalized and compassionate focus on what will help everyone specifically, practically, effectively, and efficiently. I am especially happy to help people new to emotional help understand the value of different approaches.

I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist with a strong background in neuroscience and psychopharmacology who has been in practice for over 25 years. I received my medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School and went on to complete my residency in psychiatry at MGH in Boston. FAQs

How does Talkiatry work?

Talkiatry is an online psychiatry practice designed to make high-quality mental health care more accessible. We’re 100% virtual, in-network with major insurance plans, and first appointments are typically available in days.

To get started, you’ll complete a quick online assessment to tell us what you’re looking for. We’ll match you with psychiatrists who are licensed in your state, in-network with your insurance, and experienced in treating your concerns. You’ll choose the clinician you’d like to work with.

Your first visit is an in-depth evaluation where your psychiatrist will listen, provide a diagnosis, and work with you to create a treatment plan tailored to your goals and preferences. You’ll continue seeing the same clinician over time, adjusting your plan as your needs evolve. Our team is always here to help with scheduling, insurance, and questions about your care.

Do you provide therapy?

Care at Talkiatry starts with psychiatry. If you already have a Talkiatry psychiatrist, they can refer you to one of our therapists if you’ve decided together that therapy is the right next step. However, you can’t see a Talkiatry therapist if you aren’t already seeing one of our psychiatrists.

What should I do if I’m having an emergency?

Talkiatry does not provide emergency care. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please visit your nearest emergency room, call 911, or call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.

How much will my visit cost?

The majority of our visits cost patients $25 or less after insurance*, but your exact out-of-pocket cost depends on your plan. The best way to get a clear estimate is to contact your insurance provider directly. Here’s what to ask them:

  • Do I have mental health benefits that include outpatient psychiatry?
  • Is Talkiatry in-network for my plan?
  • What’s my copay or coinsurance for outpatient psychiatry visits?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, how close am I to meeting it?
  • Do I have an out-of-pocket maximum? If so, how close am I to reaching it?
  • Are virtual or telehealth psychiatry visits covered the same as in-person care?
  • Is prior authorization required for outpatient psychiatry?
  • Can you provide a cost estimate for an in-network psychiatry visit using CPT code 99204?
  • Can you provide a cost estimate for an in-network psychotherapy visit using CPT code 90833?

*Includes all patient costs from 9/24-9/25: copayment, deductible, coinsurance, and $0 payments. Excludes missed appt. fees.  Your medical visit costs can vary depending on insurance coverage.

What if I don’t want to take medication?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors, and medication is often part of how they treat mental health conditions. At Talkiatry, your psychiatrist will start by listening and discussing your options with you. Medication is always your choice, but if it’s not something you’re open to considering, we may not be the best fit for ongoing care at this time.

How do I know if Talkiatry can help me?

Talkiatry provides virtual, in-network psychiatric care for people struggling with mild to moderate mental health issues. Here’s what we can help with:

  • Anxiety
  • ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder)
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Child & adolescent care
  • Depression
  • OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder)
  • Pregnancy & postpartum care
  • PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder)
  • Substance use disorder

Our goal is to connect you with the best possible care for you. At your first visit, your doctor will confirm whether Talkiatry is the right fit. If they recommend in-person or higher-level care, they’ll guide you to the appropriate resources.

What if my insurance changes from United Healthcare?

Insurance changes are common, and we’re here to help. Talkiatry is in-network with thousands of plans. If your insurance changes, reach out to a Care Coordinator to update your information and confirm your coverage by calling 833-351-TALK (8255).

Do I still take the assessment if I’m already diagnosed with anxiety?

Yes. Our online assessment is an important part of how we match you with the right psychiatrist. Your first visit will include a thorough evaluation so your psychiatrist can confirm your diagnosis and tailor your treatment plan to your current needs.
