I have experience in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency psychiatry, treating a broad spectrum of mental health conditions across diverse populations.

I completed an intern year in Obstetrics and Gynecology at The University of Illinois, Chicago, and went on to psychiatry residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. I am board certified in Adult Psychiatry and have worked in outpatient private practice psychiatry for nearly 20 years.

I received my medical degree from the Universidad Central del Caribe, located in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Upon graduation, I relocated to Philadelphia, where I completed my residency program at Einstein Medical Center. After completing my training, I worked for 8 years in a community mental health clinic, treating an underserved population in all modalities of psychiatric care. Over my 12-year career, I have treated both adult males and females, including seniors, which has led to varied and wide-ranging diagnoses. After leaving the community clinic setting, I began working for an outpatient clinic in a suburb of Philadelphia.

My practice focuses on medication management, typically in conjunction with supportive therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. On occasion, I may believe that additional therapy is also needed and ask that you bring a therapist into your care team to provide the best outcome. I am double board-certified in geriatric and adult psychiatry.

Following medical school, I completed general psychiatry residency training at the University of Connecticut, where I was Chief Resident of outpatient psychiatric services. Following my fellowship, I worked at Kaiser Permanente in clinical roles of outpatient, geriatric, and C/L.

Most recently, I served as the medical director for a partial hospitalization/intensive outpatient program (PHP/IOP) for adolescents in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I completed my residency training at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, where I served as Chief Resident of my program. During my residency, I led an interprofessional team to bring miniature therapy horses to the inpatient psychiatry unit, forging a relationship between the organization and all of Advocate Aurora Healthcare. I also partnered with a mental health counselor to create a virtual therapy program of resources, the Bridge Project, to close the gap between inpatient and outpatient care; it is now used throughout the Advocate Aurora network. At graduation, I received the 2024 Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Ruggie Humanitarian Award.
