I am a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with over 20 years' experience in the mental health field. My specialty areas include ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, substance abuse, PTSD, and women's health.

My clinical experience spans inpatient, outpatient, detoxification rehab, psychiatric emergency department, IOP, and PHP settings. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and brief psychotherapy. In addition to medication management with psychotherapy, I may recommend individual therapy for the best possible patient outcome.

I received my medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia/VCU in Richmond, Virginia. I then traveled to Greenville, South Carolina, where I completed a General Psychiatry residency at Greenville Health System/PRISMA Health, and then returned to Virginia to complete a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at The Virginia Treatment Center for Children/VCU Health System. I completed my undergraduate training at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia, where I studied psychology and elementary education. Prior to entering medical school, I was a licensed elementary school teacher in Virginia, where I served children of various learning styles and needs.

I continue to have an interest in learning disabilities, other neurodevelopmental disorders, ADHD, mood disorders, as well as many other areas of psychiatry.

Following graduation, I attended a research internship at the National Institutes of Health, where I received a Post-baccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award. I completed my medical degree from the Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, CA, and my General Psychiatry Residency at Georgetown University, where I served as Chief Resident. After residency, I entered private practice in McLean, VA.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in adult psychiatry. I completed residency training at East Carolina University in both internal medicine and psychiatry. After residency, I pursued my passion in psychiatry and stayed on as a clinical assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at East Carolina University. In this role, I specialized in treating adults with mental illness in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. I have spent a considerable amount of time teaching residents and medical students and have published several papers focusing on the neuroscience pathways of mental health conditions.

I graduated magna cum laude with a BSN from Florida Atlantic University and earned my MSN from the University of Florida. I completed a Psychiatric NP Residency at the VA in Charleston, SC. I have worked in a variety of settings including the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, the Palm Beach County Firefighter's Clinic, various outpatient telehealth platforms, and a child and adolescent inpatient facility. I was also an adjunct professor at Palm Beach State College.

I am board-certified in adult psychiatry and addiction medicine. I am passionate about providing quality and accessible mental health care while considering each patient's concerns, values, and life circumstances. I have special clinical interests in providing trauma-informed and culturally competent care in the treatment of mental health conditions, and I have experience working with special populations, such as minorities, immigrants, perinatal women, and LGBTQ+ communities.

I received my medical doctorate degree from State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center and completed my psychiatry residency at George Washington University Hospital in DC. Prior to medical school, I completed a Master of Public Health from Yale School of Public Health. I also hold a certificate from Harvard in Global Mental Health: Trauma and Recovery Program.

I currently serve on the Board of Directors for a non-profit organization in Washington DC to prepare people recovering from mental illness to improve their quality of life. Although my practice primarily focuses on medication management, I look forward to getting to know you and incorporating my experiences with insight-oriented therapy in 20 or 30 minute follow-up visits.

My practice focuses on medication management. Typically, I offer appointments for medication management coupled with supportive or emotionally focused therapy in 30-minute sessions. When I feel that additional therapy is needed, I will suggest inviting a therapist to join the team for additional support and guidance. Before joining Talkiatry, I practiced consult-liaison psychiatry, seeing medically ill patients with psychiatric problems at the Department of Veterans Affairs, where I also treated veterans in nursing homes. I graduated from New York University with a B.A. in philosophy and photography and worked in nonprofit marketing in New York before deciding to pursue a life in medicine. Following a post-baccalaureate, pre-medical program at Columbia University, I completed medical school at The University of Maryland, followed by a psychiatry residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. While at Johns Hopkins, I mastered clinical assessment and treatment of general psychiatric problems. I also received specialized training in eating disorders, addiction, reproductive psychiatry, chronic pain, and geriatric psychiatry, an interest I pursued further with a fellowship at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. In fellowship and in my subsequent experience at the VA, I developed expertise in caring for the difficulties that can accompany aging, including depression, anxiety, and memory loss, as well as the stress of medical illness. In addition to my background in geriatrics, I have experience working with peripartum women and enjoy working with patients navigating major life changes.

After receiving a Health Professions Scholarship from the Army, I obtained my medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. I went on to enter active duty military service and complete General Psychiatry residency training and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship training at Tripler Army Medical Center before completing active duty service as a staff psychiatrist and 101st Airborne Division psychiatrist at Fort Campbell, KY. There I cared for active duty service members and their families to manage depression, anxiety, trauma, and the unique stressors of military service.

I later transitioned to federal civilian service and served as a preceptor for Phase II Physician Assistant trainees and Army Social Work interns, reinforcing a passion for education that carried me to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). During my time at WRNMMC, I served in several roles including Deputy Medical Director of Inpatient Psychiatry, core faculty for the National Capital Consortium Psychiatry Residency Program, Associate Program Director, and associate faculty at the Uniform Services University for Health Sciences (USUHS).
