My practice emphasizes Diagnostic Clarification, which is an ongoing process. I am highly trained and experienced in the biological and psychosocial underpinnings of psychiatric problems. I typically follow diagnostic evaluations with 30-minute follow up visits for medication adjustments and brief therapy, and I often enjoy collaborating with outside therapists when needed. My practice has always combined medications with evidence-based therapies to alleviate suffering and maximize functioning.

I am Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. I have practiced general psychiatry for 37 years and have also sub-specialized in Addiction Psychiatry for the past 20 years. I graduated from Amherst College and received my medical degree from NY Medical College. I subsequently completed my residency in psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in NYC, where I excelled in Academic Psychiatry as both a teacher and a mentor.

In addition to my work as a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist, I have specialized in helping patients suffering from Substance Use Disorders. I am Board Certified in Addiction Medicine and help patients understand the interrelationships between their Substance Use Disorders and their Psychiatric illnesses.

I am a staff psychiatrist at Talkiatry, board-certified in adult psychiatry. My practice is focused primarily on medication management, which I combine with a therapeutic style that blends supportive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. Follow-up appointments with me typically last 20–30 minutes. While I am trained in a variety of therapeutic techniques, I work collaboratively with therapists and may recommend their inclusion as part of your treatment team, depending on your individualized treatment plan.

I attended the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where I received my medical degree, and completed my psychiatry residency at Stony Brook University Hospital in New York. I have received several awards for teaching and the treatment of chronically ill patients, including Stony Brook University's "William Turner Award" for excellence in education and leadership. Post residency, I worked with general adult patients as well as older adults at Manchester Memorial Hospital, where I served as both an outpatient psychiatrist and Director of the Geriatric Intensive Outpatient Program.

Although I do not treat child or adolescent patients, I have experience working with people of all ages, from young adults to adults. I have experience treating mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, patients in the perinatal period, and patients with co-occurring substance use disorders. I have regularly managed behavioral problems in adults with autism spectrum disorders as well as dementia. I particularly enjoy working with patients dealing with life or role transitions, older adults, and patients with bipolar or other affective disorders.

I view each patient and their caregiver's circumstance as unique. I take a holistic and collaborative approach to help patients understand their options. While the focus may be on psychoeducation and medication management with supportive and psychodynamic therapeutic interventions, there may be a need for additional therapy, and I may ask that a therapist be added to the treatment team. I work towards establishing a meaningful, trusting relationship.

I am double board certified in General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I have worked in various settings with culturally diverse populations, with a primary focus on caring for children in outpatient programs. I believe in client-centered care, where clients get a say in their treatment in order to help make them feel their best. I truly believe that therapy is a crucial part of successfully treating any mental health diagnosis, in combination with medication management when warranted. I enjoy treating a variety of mental health diagnoses including depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, mood disorders such as bipolar disorder, and various psychotic disorders. I also like to add mindfulness and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to my medication management appointments to help individuals receive effective, quality care.

I am a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) and have been practicing since 2018, with experience working with individuals of all ages. Though my primary focus remains medication management of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, and ADHD, I equally support and incorporate the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing and enhancement therapy, and supportive therapy in my daily patient care practice. I truly believe in an individualized and holistic patient care approach, which requires a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a commitment to stay abreast of the latest in the field.

I am an experienced psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner, DNP, PMHNP-C, with an extensive clinical background in a variety of patient care settings. This diverse clinical background has strengthened my belief in a holistic approach for optimal patient outcomes. My favorite learning modality is to learn from unique patient care scenarios, which often requires a deep dive into the existing body of evidence-based knowledge. My most important advice for my patients is to never lose hope.

My philosophy is simple yet powerful: care should fit the person, not just the diagnosis. I am passionate about tackling complex issues, including suicide prevention, C-PTSD, chronic depression, ASD, and OCD, and advocating for underserved communities. I believe in patient-centered care based on the individual, rather than focusing only on a diagnostic algorithm.

I am Holly James Corrigan, RN, MSN, PMHNP, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner. I earned my BSN from Russell Sage College in 2009, my MSN from Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Health Professions in 2016, and completed Psychiatry Redefined's Fellowship in Functional and Integrated Psychiatry in 2025. I keep current by attending top conferences, like the International Trauma Conference in Boston, ensuring I am always at the forefront of my field.

My career began as a registered nurse in neurology, pediatrics, and emergency care, before I found my calling in psychiatry. Since then, I have provided medication management and supportive psychotherapy in outpatient clinics and worked in inpatient units serving adults and adolescents.

The first appointment will include a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and a discussion about what your goals of treatment are. Pharmacological and therapeutic recommendations are both important elements of the treatment plan. Follow-up appointments will be more concise, but may include various therapeutic modalities, medication changes, and supportive psychotherapy.

My practice focuses on medication management, which I typically offer in conjunction with supportive therapy, motivational interviewing, and/or cognitive behavioral therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. I specialize in treating patients with a history of depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use disorders.

I am a double board-certified adult and addiction psychiatrist who has been in practice for over 9 years. I received my medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine. FAQs

How does Talkiatry work?

Talkiatry is an online psychiatry practice designed to make high-quality mental health care more accessible. We’re 100% virtual, in-network with major insurance plans, and first appointments are typically available in days.

To get started, you’ll complete a quick online assessment to tell us what you’re looking for. We’ll match you with psychiatrists who are licensed in your state, in-network with your insurance, and experienced in treating your concerns. You’ll choose the clinician you’d like to work with.

Your first visit is an in-depth evaluation where your psychiatrist will listen, provide a diagnosis, and work with you to create a treatment plan tailored to your goals and preferences. You’ll continue seeing the same clinician over time, adjusting your plan as your needs evolve. Our team is always here to help with scheduling, insurance, and questions about your care.

Do you provide therapy?

Care at Talkiatry starts with psychiatry. If you already have a Talkiatry psychiatrist, they can refer you to one of our therapists if you’ve decided together that therapy is the right next step. However, you can’t see a Talkiatry therapist if you aren’t already seeing one of our psychiatrists.

What should I do if I’m having an emergency?

Talkiatry does not provide emergency care. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please visit your nearest emergency room, call 911, or call or text the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988.

How much will my visit cost?

The majority of our visits cost patients $25 or less after insurance*, but your exact out-of-pocket cost depends on your plan. The best way to get a clear estimate is to contact your insurance provider directly. Here’s what to ask them:

  • Do I have mental health benefits that include outpatient psychiatry?
  • Is Talkiatry in-network for my plan?
  • What’s my copay or coinsurance for outpatient psychiatry visits?
  • Do I have a deductible? If so, how close am I to meeting it?
  • Do I have an out-of-pocket maximum? If so, how close am I to reaching it?
  • Are virtual or telehealth psychiatry visits covered the same as in-person care?
  • Is prior authorization required for outpatient psychiatry?
  • Can you provide a cost estimate for an in-network psychiatry visit using CPT code 99204?
  • Can you provide a cost estimate for an in-network psychotherapy visit using CPT code 90833?

*Includes all patient costs from 9/24-9/25: copayment, deductible, coinsurance, and $0 payments. Excludes missed appt. fees.  Your medical visit costs can vary depending on insurance coverage.

What if I don’t want to take medication?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors, and medication is often part of how they treat mental health conditions. At Talkiatry, your psychiatrist will start by listening and discussing your options with you. Medication is always your choice, but if it’s not something you’re open to considering, we may not be the best fit for ongoing care at this time.

How do I know if Talkiatry can help me?

Talkiatry provides virtual, in-network psychiatric care for people struggling with mild to moderate mental health issues. Here’s what we can help with:

  • Anxiety
  • ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder)
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Child & adolescent care
  • Depression
  • OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder)
  • Pregnancy & postpartum care
  • PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder)
  • Substance use disorder

Our goal is to connect you with the best possible care for you. At your first visit, your doctor will confirm whether Talkiatry is the right fit. If they recommend in-person or higher-level care, they’ll guide you to the appropriate resources.

What if my insurance changes from Cigna?

Insurance changes are common, and we’re here to help. Talkiatry is in-network with thousands of plans. If your insurance changes, reach out to a Care Coordinator to update your information and confirm your coverage by calling 833-351-TALK (8255).

Do I still take the assessment if I’m already diagnosed with bipolar disorder?

Yes. Our online assessment is an important part of how we match you with the right psychiatrist. Your first visit will include a thorough evaluation so your psychiatrist can confirm your diagnosis and tailor your treatment plan to your current needs.
