Biography

I have practiced in inpatient and outpatient settings and as a consultant/liaison for psychiatric needs in an inpatient medical setting. I have worked as a psychiatric nurse practitioner since 2018. I earned my Doctor of Nursing degree from the University of South Alabama and am nationally board certified as a PMHNP by the ANCC.

I value a collaborative approach to treatment planning and strive to create a safe, supportive environment where each patient feels heard, respected, and valued. I believe in fostering a strong therapeutic alliance and embrace working with patients from diverse backgrounds, recognizing and respecting each person’s unique experiences and perspectives.

At the first visit, I will take a thorough history of symptoms and concerns and explore your unique history to develop a treatment plan. Plans are tailored to each individual and developed collaboratively. Subsequent visits explore progress, assess nonpharmacological therapeutic approaches, and adjust the plan as needed.

My nursing career began in 1998 after earning my Associate Degree in Nursing from Palm Beach Community College. I later earned my BSN from Florida Atlantic University, a Master of Science in Nursing Leadership from Keiser University, and a Post-Master's PMHNP Certificate from Wilkes University. I've cared for patients in inpatient, outpatient, ACT, correctional, and group home settings, treating adults with a wide range of mental health conditions using evidence-based medication management and supportive psychotherapy.

I strive to create a welcoming, respectful, and judgment-free environment where you feel heard and valued. I believe the best outcomes come from working together, with empathy, open communication, and shared decision-making. Together, we'll develop personalized goals that support your mental health and overall well-being.

I begin by learning about your concerns, symptoms, history, goals, and expectations. We identify your strengths and priorities, then create an individualized treatment plan that may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, coping strategies, and referrals when needed. During follow-up visits, we monitor progress and adjust your plan to support lasting wellness.

Hello! I’m Brennan, a psychiatric nurse practitioner. My practice is grounded in compassion, curiosity, transparency, and creating an inclusive space where you feel heard and respected. I specialize in PTSD and C-PTSD and work with LGBTQIA+ concerns, polyamory/ENM, weight-loss psychiatry, and other areas that may not receive attention in traditional mental health settings.

Your first appointment begins with a conversation about what is troubling you, not simply assigning a diagnosis. I want to understand your symptoms, concerns, history, goals, and what you hope to get from treatment. We’ll discuss explanations and treatment options, including approaches with and without medication. You should expect compassion, careful questioning, and an honest conversation. We’ll work toward a plan that addresses your needs and clarifies next steps.

My approach follows a “no surprise” method of communication. If your diagnosis, medication, treatment approach, or therapy style needs to change, I’ll explain what changed, why, and what information led us there. You should never feel like decisions are being made without you. I value open communication and want you to feel secure, respected, and heard. My goal is to work with you rather than tell you what to do. We’ll assess what is working, what isn’t, and adjust so your care aligns with your goals.

I have experience providing psychiatric care in a variety of outpatient and inpatient settings. I earned my Master’s Degree as an Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in 2002 and later obtained certification as an Advanced Practice Certified Addictions Recovery Nurse.

I believe treatment works best when we make decisions together. I will never force my own treatment plan. Instead, I strive to create a supportive environment where I can understand your experiences and work with you to develop a path toward healing that reflects your goals and values.

During our first appointment, I take time to thoroughly explore your history, current concerns, and where you would like to go in treatment. I carry that understanding into each follow-up visit, with you directing the goals of your care while we adjust your treatment together as your needs evolve.

Diane Inda, PMHNP

Diane Inda is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with extensive experience across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and telehealth settings. She is passionate about supporting patients in achieving their mental health goals while fostering trust, respect, and collaboration with a wide variety of care providers. Diane lives in Oregon with her husband, three cats, and four dogs, and enjoys writing fiction, photography, jewelry making, and martial arts.

Diane prioritizes what matters most to each patient, creating a safe space to discuss—or choose not to discuss—any concern. She values honesty and respect, and draws on her diverse clinical experience to see the whole patient. Diane collaborates with both traditional and non-traditional providers, ensuring patients receive comprehensive care tailored to their needs.

Appointments begin by focusing on the patient’s goals and concerns. Diane uses evidence-based assessments to track progress and patterns and explores all aspects of a patient’s life, including sleep, nutrition, career, family, pets, and spirituality. Together, she and her patients create individualized treatment plans with actionable steps, monitoring what works best and adjusting as needed to support the patient’s chosen path to wellness.

Please note: Due to limitations placed by Minnesota law, controlled medications cannot be prescribed by telehealth only providers. This includes stimulant medications for ADHD. One option is to complete the assessment and then forward the medical records to one’s local primary care provider who can then do the actual prescribing. It is recommended to contact the primary care provider before an appointment with Talkiatry to ascertain if this plan is acceptable.
