I obtained my medical degree from the Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra Dominican Republic and completed my residency in adult psychiatry at the University of Florida in Gainesville. After completing training, I became a Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Florida Department of Psychiatry, where I served students at UF Student Mental Health at the Counseling and Wellness Center and provided treatment to adults in inpatient services and other settings.

While I am an expert in psychopharmacology, I take an integrative approach to treatment and often incorporate psychotherapeutic techniques when appropriate, tailoring every treatment to each patient's individual needs. I specialize in treating adult and geriatric mental illnesses, including Depression, Anxiety Disorders (e.g., OCD, Panic Disorder, GAD, PTSD), ADHD, and Cognitive Disorders in the elderly. Over the last two decades, I served as an attending psychiatrist at JT Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson, NY, where I became proficient in delivering stellar psychiatric care in a variety of settings.

I treat all adults, and my passion lies in providing accessible care for women facing challenges throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum and in reproductive psychiatry. My academic background is rooted in science, with an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of California, Merced. I then pursued my medical doctorate at the Medical University of the Americas. Following medical school, I completed my psychiatry residency training. The first two years were spent at East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine, with a culmination of my last two years of residency at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to further specialize in women's mental health, which solidified my expertise in this vital area.

At Allegheny Health Network's Women's Behavioral Health clinic, I honed my skills in treating a range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, and related issues, and served as a medical provider for their intensive perinatal/postpartum outpatient clinic. I also developed a deep understanding of perinatal mental health, supporting patients coping with perinatal loss and traumatic birthing experiences.

I later transitioned to the IT industry, earning a master's degree and certifications, before answering my true calling in medicine, graduating from Saint Matthews University School of Medicine.

Dr. Kevin Ray is a board-certified psychiatrist who completed his psychiatry residency at Zucker Hillside Hospital, part of Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, in Glen Oaks, New York. Board certified since 2015, he has held numerous clinical and academic leadership roles, including Chief of Psychiatry at the West Palm Beach VA Hospital and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. He is also trained in Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).

Dr. Ray takes a thorough, thoughtful approach to psychiatric care, recognizing the important role lifestyle and nutrition play in mental health. He works closely with patients to simplify and optimize complex medication regimens whenever appropriate, with the goal of improving both outcomes and quality of life.

For over two decades, I have served New York City communities across Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx, primarily within the public hospital system. I have held clinical, academic, and administrative leadership roles and have been recognized for my excellence in teaching and mentoring psychiatry residents. I also serve as Assistant Dean of Students for the U.S. clinical program at St. George's University.

I am board-certified in Psychiatry with 15 years of experience in outpatient clinical psychiatry. My focus is primarily on medication management, but I do incorporate brief cognitive behavioral therapy and supportive therapy when appropriate. If more extensive psychotherapy is felt to be beneficial, I will recommend a therapist and collaborate with them for optimal care. Medication is felt to be an important tool for many in achieving wellness, and I encourage a holistic approach to improve outcomes. I am a double board-certified psychiatrist in Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. I completed my undergraduate training at the University of Florida, followed by medical school at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University. I completed both my residency in Psychiatry and fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. Since graduating from fellowship, I have held an academic appointment at the University of Miami, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and serving as the Miami Veterans Healthcare System Site Director for the University of Miami Psychiatry residency and fellowship programs. Additionally, I have served as the Medical Director of the inpatient psychiatry unit and subsequently as the Assistant Chief of Psychiatry for the Miami VA Healthcare System. I have extensive experience in treating adults with severe psychiatric illnesses in the inpatient setting.
