Biography

I use the three C's (catching, checking, and changing) approach with a foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy intertwined with Mindfulness. I also prefer the person-centered focus, as I work specifically with the individual and the struggles they may be facing. Treatment is tailored for the individual, as there is great effort put into choosing the treatment modality that fits the individual's personal struggles.

I am a licensed professional counselor and mental health service provider (LPC-MHSP) with extensive experience working in the mental health field. I attended Lindsey Wilson College where I attained my Master's in Mental Health Counseling, and Morehead State University where I graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work. I have been practicing for over 10 years and have worked in other areas of mental health since 1997. I have worked with clients of various demographics who are living with a variety of mental health conditions. I have also worked with DCS, foster care, and had a private practice in KY before deciding to move to Tennessee.

I believe people already carry so much of what they need within them, but sometimes life gets loud, painful, confusing, or overwhelming, and it helps to have someone work alongside you to sort through it with care. My role is to offer a space where you can feel safe enough to be honest, understood, and fully yourself.

I work with adults ages 18 and up who are navigating all kinds of challenges, whether that’s anxiety, depression, relationship stress, family pain, life transitions, burnout, grief, trauma, or simply feeling stuck and unsure of what comes next. I know how important it is to feel genuinely seen—not judged, rushed, or reduced to a problem to solve—and I try to bring that into every session.

My approach is client-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused. I draw from approaches like CBT and DBT, but more than anything, I believe therapy works best when it's real, collaborative, and human. Every person has their own story, their own strengths, and their own way forward, and I deeply respect that.

I care a lot about the people I work with and the relationships we build within the therapy space. I see therapy as a collaborative process—one where we make sense of what hurts, notice what’s getting in the way, and help you move toward a life that feels more grounded, meaningful, and true to who you are. And I genuinely look forward to connecting with you!

My professional career has provided me with the opportunity to work with individuals in a variety of settings. I have provided treatment in residential care programs for children and adolescents, in the family home, community-based mental health centers, and substance abuse treatment outpatient services. In these settings, I have had the opportunity to treat all ages, dealing with a wide range of issues including trauma, substance abuse and recovery, and mood disorders such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

I tailor my treatment modalities for the greatest benefit of the individual, being considerate of the background and needs of each client. I use an eclectic approach to therapy founded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and incorporate elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotional regulation. I focus on mood and anxiety disorders, as well as personality disorders, challenges in relationship dynamics, and difficult life transitions such as grief and divorce.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with Mental Health Service Provider designation and have been working in the mental health field for 4 years. I obtained my undergraduate degree in psychology from Bryan College in Dayton, TN, and my graduate degree in clinical mental health counseling from Richmont Graduate University in Chattanooga, TN. I have experience working in multiple settings within the mental health field including private practice counseling, school-based counseling, and in a behavioral health hospital, which has allowed me to work closely with individuals of various demographics and a wide spectrum of mental health conditions.

As an LMHC, I like to focus on helping those with anxiety, depression, relationship/employment concerns, and overall transitions of life (school/work/medical issues/moving stressors, etc.), which may hinder daily life. Treatment is tailored to the individual client in order to choose the treatment plan that fits that individual's personal struggles. I use a mix of different approaches typically found in Solution Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Whether the goal is talk therapy or problem solving, I am more than happy to explore your goals with you.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State with extensive experience working in the mental health field. I attended undergraduate school in Amherst, NY and graduate school in Buffalo, NY, completing internship programs during my time at both schools. I continue to obtain knowledge through regular trainings and certifications that interest me, including EMDR. I have been working in mental and behavioral health for approximately 10 years, continuing after being fully licensed, which required 3,000 hours of supervised experience. I have worked directly with many different kinds of clients who have experienced an array of mental health concerns at all levels. I also have experience working with comorbid disorders that can at times go hand-in-hand, such as anxiety and depression, or homelessness and substance use.

I value open communication and collaboration in every therapeutic relationship. I work alongside clients to establish clear treatment goals and realistic expectations, ensuring that care is both purposeful and personalized. My approach is grounded in empathy and respect, creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel accepted, heard, and empowered to make meaningful change.

In the initial session, I take time to thoroughly understand each client's personal history, current concerns, and long-term goals. I then develop an individualized treatment plan that reflects their unique needs and aspirations. Throughout the therapeutic process, I regularly reassess progress, adjusting interventions as needed to help clients achieve lasting growth and improved well-being.

I am an experienced mental health professional with a background in both outpatient and inpatient settings, and I have worked extensively with clients navigating mental health and substance use challenges. I earned my master's degree in counseling from Southern Adventist University and completed my clinical internship at Parkridge Valley Psychiatric Hospital, where I developed a strong foundation in evidence-based care and client-centered practice.

My style is warm, conversational, and wellness-focused. While I may challenge clients, it is always done in a non-confrontational and supportive manner. I provide a judgment-free space for all clients, including those in poly relationships. Sessions emphasize collaboration, with clients setting their own goals while receiving guidance and exploration along the way. The first session focuses on understanding a client's history, life experiences, and previous counseling. I work collaboratively to develop a treatment plan with attainable goals, emphasizing steady progress and overall wellness — being "just a bit more well today than in past days." I regularly check in about the therapeutic relationship and value feedback, always prioritizing client safety, comfort, and fit.

I am a clinical trauma counselor with expertise in crisis intervention, risk assessment, TBI, ASD, and couples and family counseling. I work with individuals from young adulthood through senior adulthood and have experience across inpatient and outpatient settings. I have provided telehealth services since 2017 and hold Board Certification in Telemental Health (BC-TMH). I also serve as a supervisor for counselors working toward licensure.
