Biography

I am a licensed professional counselor certified by the NBCC, with additional certifications in Telehealth EMDR and as a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider. At Talkiatry, I work as a psychotherapist alongside a licensed psychiatrist in the states of Pennsylvania and New York. My areas of focus span child, adolescent, and adult populations, and I offer modalities including CBT, DBT, Trauma Focused CBT, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Problem Solving Therapy, Psychoanalytical Therapies, and Adult ADHD. I am also trained in modalities for specialty groups such as LGBTQ+, Family/Couples Therapy, and Personality Disorders, and I have experience with DID and Depersonalization.

I received my undergraduate and Master's degrees from Gannon University in Erie, PA. My undergraduate majors are Political Science and Psychology, and my Master's is in Community Counseling. I began my career as a therapist at Sarah Reed Children's Center, where I provided individual therapy, family therapy, crisis intervention, and assessments. From there, I moved to Alabama to do administrative work and private practice, and I am now back in Pennsylvania. I completed my B.S. in Science with a major in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 1992. I then worked as a Correction Counselor with the NYC Department of Corrections for a few years, working with female inmates who had substance abuse problems and with adolescents, facilitating treatment recovery groups and psychoeducation. In 1998, I began working with the Administration for Children Services while pursuing my Master's Degree at Hunter College School of Social Work, where I graduated in 2001 with my MSW. For 19 years I worked as a Discharge Planner in a hospital while attending Metropolitan Institute for Mental Health to study in the Adult Psychoanalytic Division. In 2012, I switched gears and began working as a Behavioral Health Care Manager, while also starting my own private practice, called "Live the Life you Want," because I strongly believe that all individuals should live their own lives the way they want to and desire. In 2022, I received a two-year certificate in Integrated Trauma from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, where I received training in EMDR and Somatic Experiencing, and I am currently working toward a certification as an Accelerated Experiential Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, an experiential model that seeks to alleviate patients' psychological suffering by helping them process the overwhelming emotions associated with trauma, depression, and anxiety.
