Biography
Rebecca Hegwood, LPC, LCMHC, is a 2015 graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and has worked in the counseling field for 10 years. She became a Licensed Professional Counselor in South Carolina in 2018 and later earned her Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor designation in North Carolina. Her experience includes community nonprofit work, state mental health, group practice, and private practice settings, working with both children and adults. Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys life at her country farmhouse with her husband, dogs, cat, and ducks, along with creative pursuits and music.
Rebecca views therapy as a unique exchange of energy that creates a safe space for discussing vulnerable topics. She believes in moving at a pace that feels comfortable for each patient and uses the first session to build connection, answer questions, and learn about what matters most to them. With no pressure or expectations, she works to understand each person’s needs and begin shaping a therapy experience tailored to their goals.
Rebecca takes a person-centered approach, grounded in the belief that individuals have an innate capacity to heal. She strives to provide empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard while also offering perspective and gentle challenges when needed. Her collaborative style encourages self-awareness, exploration of thoughts and emotions, and identification of meaningful paths forward. She is passionate about helping patients build resilience, empowerment, and a stronger sense of agency in their lives.
