Biography
I often lead with an existential and humanistic approach to therapy, integrating techniques such as CBT and DBT to help patients work through barriers that affect both daily life and long-term goals. I understand that therapy can be a vulnerable process and prioritize creating a safe, supportive, and welcoming space for patients to explore their experiences. While sessions remain focused and thoughtful, I occasionally incorporate humor when appropriate, as patients often find it reflects my authentic and approachable style.
I focus on understanding each patient's unique experiences and perspectives when they enter therapy. I believe there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach and tailor treatment plans and strategies to the individual rather than relying on a single technique. My process is collaborative, regularly checking in with patients about the effectiveness of tools and strategies used in treatment. Through this work, I aim to empower patients with insight and knowledge so they can become experts in understanding themselves.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor, and a National Certified Counselor. I earned my bachelor's degree in Nutritional Sciences from Boston University, where I developed an interest in the relationship between diet and mental health, and my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina A&T State University. I have completed specialized training in ADHD, maternal and perinatal mental health, trauma-informed care, and TF-CBT. My experience spans outpatient, inpatient, and private practice settings, including outpatient care at a nonprofit in Winston-Salem, NC and a rural New York clinic focused on substance use and mental health, as well as inpatient substance use rehabilitation. I have also conducted trainings and presentations on mental health topics and ethics.
