Biography

I am a Christian counselor and believe people have need of mind/body/spirit balance to address the emotional pain, psychological turmoil, and physical challenges in life. I meet individuals where they are and, with the focus of accomplishing the wellness goals of the individual, answer the need for therapeutic interventions. I use a variety of modalities dependent on the needs of the patient, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Christ Centered Christian Counseling Intervention. Patients should be aware that I specialize in straightforwardness and application of the structure of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in sessions. Patients are of the utmost importance when receiving therapy and are the key to mental health intervention and thereby change. I respect the wishes of patients with target goals and behaviors, while also providing support, care, and help. I acknowledge and am knowledgeable about getting to the heart of problems, issues, and concerns and identifying what is best in the patient's opinion to address, then addressing them. I typically address the dynamics of a therapeutic relationship with patients, along with asking and assessing what patients hope to obtain or accomplish in therapy, and I discuss each clinical step taken to get to the accomplishments of the patient.

I received my bachelor's from the University of Kansas and my master's from the University of Missouri, and I continue educational opportunities in counseling/therapy and theology. I have decades of experience collaborating with patients providing mental health care and interventions to facilitate health and wellness, and I have worked in all aspects of mental health ranging from crisis care to rehabilitation. I have a great depth of community service connections and resources to link individuals in the community and an opportunity to extend support networks for greater health.

I have worked with a wide range of diagnoses including Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Marital, Grief, Alcohol and Substance Use, Addictions, Workplace Issues, Relationship and Social Issues, Multicultural Issues, Faith Crisis, and Adjustment Issues.

I recognize the stigma surrounding mental health and view seeking therapy as an act of resilience. I create a safe, comfortable, and nonjudgmental space where clients can be themselves. I value autonomy, support increased self-awareness, and genuinely celebrate each client's progress and healing. I enjoy integrating nutrition-focused psychoeducation and creative expression through play and art-based strategies. I begin by building rapport and gaining a thorough understanding of each client's history, concerns, and goals, then collaborate with clients to create individualized treatment plans that reflect their needs and priorities. I feel honored to walk alongside clients as they grow, heal, and build skills for lasting well-being.

I grew up in Colorado and moved to Waco in 2013 to attend Baylor University, where I later earned my MSW. I hold the LCSW credential and am completing full EMDR training, and I also hold ADHD certification. I have extensive experience supporting children and adolescents ages 4–19, as well as their caregivers, across juvenile detention, PK–12 schools, and homeless outreach.

I am also training my dog, Odin, for Therapy Dog certification.

I enjoy working with patients who have anxiety, depression, insomnia, mood disorders, and self-esteem issues. I am trained in geriatrics and especially love working with adults over the age of 65. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mind-Body Approach, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, and Prolonged Grief Disorder (where the patient is experiencing grief for at least 12 months). As I am trained in several different treatment modalities, I can customize therapy to meet everyone's needs.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in the mental health field since 2013. I completed my undergraduate and graduate education in Alabama. During graduate school, I completed internships at the Tuscaloosa County jail, the University of Alabama Student Veterans Center, and the Birmingham Veterans Affairs Medical Center in their Health Care for Homeless Veterans program. In 2013, I moved to Arizona to work with the Department of Veterans Affairs to continue working with homeless veterans. I also have experience teaching at Pima Community College and serve as a clinical supervisor for associate level clinicians through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners. My prior working experience and training has been with adults, homeless veterans, Native Americans, LGBTQIA, women, and individuals in rural or remote areas, providing access to much needed mental health services in provider shortage areas.

I am a proud member of the LGBTQ community and prioritize a person-centered approach to care. I value cultivating a safe and affirming environment for all patients, regardless of identity. My primary therapeutic approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which guides my collaborative and compassionate work with clients.

I graduated from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and French and earned my Master of Social Work from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. I bring 10 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults in residential and outpatient facilities, schools, and private practice.

During the first session, I conduct an intake to understand each patient's background, concerns, and goals. I develop treatment plans collaboratively to ensure they are tailored and meaningful. Known for my empathy and use of humor, I build rapport with patients while guiding them toward personal growth and well-being.

I have a particular passion and specialty in working with the LGBTQ population, and I also enjoy helping patients address depression and mood concerns, anxiety disorders, trauma, self-criticism and shame, grief and loss, major life transitions, social discontent, and medical conditions such as HIV/AIDS. I work with adults across the lifespan and strive to create an affirming and inclusive therapeutic environment. My work with each patient is individualized and guided by their needs and collaboratively defined goals. Patients can expect a warm, authentic, and direct therapeutic style. My approach is primarily skills-based, most often drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, within a client-centered and attachment-focused relationship. Therapy often explores how perspective, assumptions, and self-narratives contribute to distress, with practical action plans to support growth. I view therapy as a collaborative process aimed at meaningful change and a more fulfilling, values-driven life.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience across a wide range of mental health and social service settings, including academic outpatient clinics, community health centers, residential programs, clinical research, the VA, EAP services, and HIV/AIDS service organizations. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Louis University and a Master of Social Work in Clinical Social Work/Mental Health from Washington University in St. Louis.

I work collaboratively with patients to develop an individualized treatment plan that aligns with their goals, values, and vision for growth, adjusting the approach as needed over time.

I completed my Doctorate in Psychology at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, and have specialized training in grief and trauma counseling. I have extensive experience practicing in both outpatient and residential treatment settings. My clinical background allows me to support individuals facing complex emotional challenges with depth, insight, and professionalism.
