Lilia Mitchell, LPC
Staff Licensed Professional Counselor
Hello, my name is Lilia Mitchell. Welcome to Talkiatry. Let me begin by saying how glad I am you have decided to reach out for help. My Philosophy on the Therapy Process and RelationshipI believe that therapy is a collaborative and interactive process between a client and a therapist. Effective therapy requires that the client and the therapist develop a relationship based on mutual trust and respect. I believe that each client is an individual with unique concerns, strengths, values, etc. Please know that I am a professional that is committed to your welfare. By the end of the first or second session, I will be able to tell you how I see your case and how I think we should proceed. I view therapy as a partnership between us. You define the problems or concerns to be worked on; I use special knowledge to help you make the changes you want to make. Psychotherapy is not like visiting a medical professional. It requires your very active involvement; it requires your best efforts to change thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. For example, I want you to tell me about important experiences, what they mean to you, and what strong feelings are involved. This is one of the ways you are an active partner in therapy. I expect us to plan our work together and figure out a treatment plan to follow. We will list the areas of concern and how they will be addressed. From time to time, we will look together at our progress and goals. If we think we need to, we can then change our treatment plan, its goals, or its methods. Participation in therapy involves listening to the therapist, being honest, discussing concerns about the process, and completing outside assignments when appropriate. My QualificationsI have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, a master's degree in Counseling, and a Doctor of Professional Counseling. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor/Supervisor issued by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Professional Counselors and am a certified counselor by the National Board of Certified Counselors. I am a member of the American Counseling Association. I have experience helping individuals dealing with issues of domestic violence, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, stress management, self-esteem, and marital issues. I am also very interested in helping in the LGBTQI+ community.

Renee Belew-Dycus, LCSW
Staff Therapist
Renee Belew-Dycus, LCSW, brings a deep commitment to service shaped by early work with individuals experiencing homelessness, supporting job readiness, housing stability, emotional regulation, and self-esteem. She later served as a supervisor within Los Angeles County Mental Health, overseeing long-term locked psychiatric facilities and ensuring high-quality, standards-based care. Since opening her private practice in 2007, Renee has devoted her work to trauma and PTSD, Autism Spectrum and ADHD support, transgender and LGBTQ+ clients, and individuals seeking clarity and direction at any stage of life.
Renee is not a “one-size-fits-all” therapist. She works creatively and collaboratively, offering tools gathered over years of practice while honoring each client’s autonomy. Rather than assigning homework or giving directives, she invites exploration and reflection to discover what truly fits. She believes clients often already hold the answers they seek, and her role is to help them recognize and trust their inner wisdom. Above all, she prioritizes emotional safety.
In the first session, Renee allows clients to set the pace and focus, creating space to assess comfort and connection. Clients are invited to share their reasons for seeking therapy, goals, and past therapy experiences. From there, Renee and the client collaboratively develop a treatment plan and work together as a team throughout the therapeutic process.

Cynthia has extensive experience working with individuals and families from many diverse cultures and backgrounds.
Cynthia uses a down-to-earth, holistic approach to therapy. She believes if the body is not well, the mind cannot become well. Cynthia will evaluate your bodies wellbeing using an inquisitive approach and she will make suggestions and/or referrals to specialists, when necessary. Cynthia will provide you a safe and non-judgmental space to be yourself, to allow you to heal and grow. It will be Cynthia's mission to get you well as quickly as possible. Therapy will be tailored to the individual using a combination of a person-centered approach in order to empower the individual, focusing on them being the story teller; a solution-focused approach because the individual is the expert of themselves and they know their own abilities; and a strength-based approach in order to tap into the inner strengths and skills that embody the individual.
In the first session Cynthia will spend some time getting to know what happened to you to cause you to decide to start therapy. She will inquire about your childhood, family, culture, current health concerns and want to know what your hobbies are, and she will delve into what your typical day looks like from your wake/sleep cycle to what you typically eat and do during the day. Cynthia will ask you, what are your goals for therapy? Cynthia will work collaboratively with you to create a treatment plan that is SMART-specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time sensitive.
