My therapeutic approach is eclectic in nature and client centered. I collaborate with my clients, meeting them where they are and helping them find personalized solutions to achieve their goals and become their best selves. I utilize a combination of approaches including mindfulness techniques, cognitive/dialectical behavioral skills (CBT, DBT), as well as compassion and strength-based approaches.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in New York with over 5 years of experience working with adults seeking help with anxiety, depression, other mood disorders, stress, life transitions, LGBTQ+ issues, and trauma. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY, followed by a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Medaille College in Buffalo, NY. I have prior experience working for a local hospital in the comprehensive psychiatric emergency program (CPEP), where I provided crisis intervention services. I also have prior experience working in substance abuse, providing mental health counseling treatment on an inpatient unit. Additionally, I have worked in community mental health with a variety of different populations.

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to therapy. It's normal to feel nervous; therapy is a process we'll build together over time. We'll move at your pace, one step at a time, and I'll be here to guide you throughout.

Elisabeth Davis, LPCC

Staff Therapist

One of my main goals is to make counseling and therapy "user friendly." Many people are apprehensive about starting therapy, and from the first session I try to create an atmosphere where they feel safe and supported. My counseling style is rooted in unconditional positive regard, meaning I always approach therapy from a strength-based perspective. I treat my clients with respect, genuine care, compassion, and concern, and I work with them to create goals and find solutions that best suit their needs. I also consider myself a holistic counselor, focusing on the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. As Plato said, 'The part can never be well unless the whole is well.'

I specialize in areas such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma from physical and sexual abuse, family and relationship issues, parenting problems, and LGBTQIA+ support. I also have significant experience working with the military and providing education and career counseling. My professional journey has been eclectic and wide-ranging, allowing me to work with a diverse range of populations and issues.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with an MA, licensed in both Kentucky and Ohio, and I am also a Board Certified-TeleMental Health Provider. Maya Angelou said, 'My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.' My mission is to help you find the best way to overcome and thrive in your life.

Although I am part of the BIPOC community, I welcome all races, creeds, and religions.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware, and I have been a Social Worker since 2001. In 2012, I switched gears and began working as a Behavioral Health Care Manager, while also starting my own private practice, called "Live the Life you Want," because I strongly believe that all individuals should live their own lives the way they want to and desire. My experience spans nearly two decades working with many who struggle to find their way through different life challenges. I will collaborate with you to identify and attain goals. Getting to know you is the first step, and that is achieved through a variety of approaches grounded in family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy, and understanding any types of trauma that may have been experienced. Many have had trauma, and what I have learned is that talking about the details of the trauma is not always helpful. It may be a component of healing, but there may be other ways to make progress. I utilize a combination of approaches to be helpful in working with clients. Some may include person-centered, solution focused, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing). I work with ages 18 and up on mental health issues like depression, anxiety, grief, stress management, trauma, communication, and relationship issues. I enjoy seeing a client shift perspectives and report feeling more at peace as they reach their goals.

I have experience in different treatment settings in Ohio and enjoy working with those who have mental health and substance use disorders. I completed my doctorate degree in Counselor Education & Supervision in Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy in 2012.
