Biography
I've spent years as a therapist working with people at very different stages of life, from children as young as five to adults and older folks in their later years. I've done individual, group, and family work, and I've come to appreciate that each of those settings asks something different of me. Some of the people I see are kids learning to name what they feel for the first time; others are adults or seniors trying to steady themselves through a stretch of life that hasn't gone the way they planned.
I start by getting to know your history and what's bringing you in right now, and from there we set weekly goals and build a plan that fits your specific struggles rather than a generic checklist. I'd rather we work as a team than have me hand down instructions. That means early sessions involve a lot of me listening and asking questions so I actually understand what you're dealing with before we decide where to go.
What matters to me is that you can be honest here, including on the days when things aren't going well. I lean toward practical strategies, the kind you can carry out of the room and actually use during the week, so the work doesn't stay stuck inside the hour we spend together.
Deciding to talk to someone takes real effort. If you've gotten this far, you've already done part of the hard work, and I'm glad to help you take the next step.
