Biography
My work as a licensed professional counselor centers on people navigating mood disorders, anxiety and depression, addiction, emotional trauma, anger, and the strain that shows up in families and relationships. Over 20 years, I've counseled clients across just about every setting you can name, from inpatient hospitals and outpatient clinics to private practice and even inside correctional facilities. Before I earned my LPC, I worked as a licensed chemical dependency counselor, so substance use and the barriers that come with it are familiar ground for me. I see clients across the whole span of life, from young children through older adults.
I tailor treatment to the individual, because the goals of therapy only stick when a person feels genuinely invested in their own growth and contentment. My approach is eclectic, but it rests on a solid foundation of Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. In practice, our early sessions are about getting clear on what you actually want to change and what has been getting in the way. I keep a working knowledge of psychotropic medications too, so if that's part of your picture, I can help address compliance and the obstacles that come up.
Outside the office, I'm a musician, a community theater actor, an educator, a coach, and a swim official, so I understand a busy life. There's no clock on this. Reach out when the timing feels right for you.
