Biography
I'm a licensed professional counselor, and I treat anxiety, depression, trauma, and the kind of grief and loss that doesn't follow a tidy timeline. I've been in the mental health field for over 24 years now, across a range of settings. Early on, I worked in an inpatient psychiatric hospital on the child and adolescent unit, and for the past decade I've been in private practice, mostly with adults and older adults sorting through what's weighing on them.
I'll be honest with you: I'm both compassionate and direct. Those two things aren't in tension for me. Much of what I do draws on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, so we'll spend real time noticing the distorted thoughts that keep circling and figuring out how to challenge and reframe them, while reinforcing the habits that actually serve you. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a Certified Grief Educator, I pay close attention to how loss and past hurt shape the present, but I treat each person as a unique individual rather than a diagnosis. In a first session, expect me to ask questions, listen closely, and start naming patterns out loud with you.
You'll leave that first conversation with a sense of where we're headed. Bring whatever's been hardest to say, and we'll begin making sense of it together.
