He earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine after completing undergraduate studies in neurobiology at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. His training includes inpatient, emergency, outpatient, psychotherapy, and crisis psychiatry, including work with the Detroit Wayne Integrated Health Network Crisis Center. He also completed a National Institutes of Health cancer research fellowship in breast cancer stem cell biology and translational research. His clinical interests include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, sleep disorders, psychopharmacology, and the impact of modern digital environments on mental health. Outside of medicine, he enjoys music, fitness, technology, gaming, and time with his wife and three rescue cats.
Dr. Baker believes psychiatric care begins with patients feeling heard, respected, and understood. He emphasizes open communication, collaboration, and a nonjudgmental environment where patients feel comfortable discussing difficult experiences. He works with patients to develop informed, empowering, and individualized treatment plans grounded in biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors.
Dr. Baker begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation focused on symptoms, history, stressors, strengths, and goals. He prioritizes accurate diagnosis and collaborative treatment planning tailored to each individual. His approach integrates evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy-informed care, including cognitive behavioral therapy, supportive and psychodynamic approaches, behavioral strategies, sleep-focused interventions, and skills for emotional regulation and stress management. Follow-up visits focus on monitoring progress, adjusting treatment, and building a strong therapeutic relationship.
