I value open, honest communication and take a collaborative approach to care. I partner with patients to identify clear treatment goals and use symptom screener tools to objectively track progress. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and empathetic environment where patients feel heard, respected, and actively engaged in their treatment journey. In the first session, I work to gain a thorough understanding of each patient's history, current concerns, and long-term goals, and then develop a personalized treatment plan aligned with those goals. My approach balances symptom improvement with medication tolerability and incorporates therapies that further enhance outcomes.

I bring over 30 years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings and have held leadership roles, including serving as Medical Director across various clinical programs. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago and earned my medical degree from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. I completed my residency at Loyola University Medical Center, where I was appointed chief resident during my final year.

I believe in a holistic approach to mental health treatment, integrating medication management, supportive psychotherapy, and collaboration with therapists and support staff. I tailor treatment to each patient's unique needs, ensuring a comprehensive and individualized approach to care. My expertise includes treating a variety of psychiatric diagnoses, such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders (including OCD), ADHD, and PTSD. In a first visit, patients can expect a thorough evaluation, where I take the time to understand their medical history, symptoms, and treatment goals. I emphasize open communication and collaborative decision-making, ensuring that patients feel heard and supported. Based on this initial assessment, I develop a personalized treatment plan, which may include medication management and referrals to therapy or other supportive services as needed.

I am a staff psychiatrist at Talkiatry. I trained in New York and earned my medical degree from Albany Medical College in 1997. I finished my internship at Vanderbilt Medical Center and completed my psychiatric residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2000. During my residency, I served as Chief Resident at the Kansas City VA Medical Center (KCVA). My initial post-residency focus was with patients with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) when I worked at the Johnson County Mental Health Center. I have served as an adjunct professor at the University of Kansas providing clinical supervision to residents and yearly lectures on Bipolar disorder, Tourette's, and Obsessive Compulsive disorder for over 20 years. I worked at Midwest Psychiatric Associates in an outpatient private practice for nearly 3 years before returning to the KCVA, where I oversaw care for combat veterans as a clinical psychiatrist and the supervisor for the PTSD Specialty outpatient clinic. After 5 years, I transitioned to the inpatient unit as the inpatient supervisor and one of the attending physicians of the acute inpatient psychiatric unit. In addition, I served as the University of Kansas Site Director for their psychiatric residency program.

I combine evidence-based and personalized treatments that may include medication management, psychotherapy (ACT, DBT, CBT, psychodynamic, and supportive modalities), and holistic wellness approaches. I strive to create a safe, affirming space where patients can explore and grow in ways aligned with their values. I have a special interest in serving LGBTQIA+, kink/sex-positive, and non-monogamous communities.

In the initial sessions, I conduct a comprehensive assessment of the patient's goals, values, history, and concerns. Together, we develop a tailored treatment plan that reflects the patient's unique needs, emphasizing shared decision-making and ongoing collaboration.

I earned my medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed residency in psychiatry at the University of Washington, where I served as Outpatient Chief Resident and completed an area of distinction in psychotherapy. I also hold a Master of Science in Nutrition and Human Performance from Logan University and am a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher trained in Rishikesh, India. I have experience in outpatient, inpatient, and psychiatric emergency settings.

I offer a friendly, nonjudgmental space where patients feel supported and empowered. My collaborative style emphasizes respect, transparency, and shared decision-making. I am especially passionate about helping people navigate stress, build self-esteem, and develop healthy relationships. Depending on patient needs, I use tools like talk therapy, lifestyle changes, parent coaching, and medication management to support healing. I specialize in treating both children and adults.

I am a native of the Tennessee mountains. I completed a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Washington University in St. Louis and a general psychiatry residency in San Antonio, Texas. I have worked in academic medical centers, public schools, state hospitals, a transgender health clinic, and a residential eating disorder center. I am experienced in caring for LGBTQIA+ individuals and underserved rural communities.

Sessions begin with a detailed review of each patient's history, current concerns, and goals. I then work together with the patient to create a personalized care plan that may include therapy techniques, medications, psychoeducation, or coping strategies. When treating children or teens, I often include family involvement or parent coaching to promote meaningful progress.

I take an open, nonjudgmental approach and strive to create a safe space for patients to share vulnerably. I believe in leading with compassion and listening as a core tool for understanding. My treatment philosophy is integrative, combining thoughtful medication management with supportive, individualized therapy, and I encourage patients to consider the role of lifestyle factors like sleep, nutrition, and exercise. I begin with a conversational consultation focused on understanding each patient's story and needs, and together we co-create a personalized treatment plan grounded in the patient's values. I emphasize clear communication and routinely revisit treatment goals to ensure alignment, progress, and ongoing support.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist with a strong foundation in psychopharmacology and a deep commitment to person-centered care. I completed my undergraduate studies at Stetson University in DeLand, FL, before earning my medical degree and completing my psychiatry residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN.

  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) stipend and days
  • Flexible scheduling in a fully remote environment
  • Licensing support with upfront coverage of costs
  • Provided technology package for seamless virtual care
  • Virtual faculty practice, inclusive of education, research and engagement opportunities
  • And more
How does compensation work?

Is there a cost to my health system?

Clinicians receive a base salary plus monthly productivity incentives. This structure provides stable income with the ability to increase earnings based on caseload and scheduling preferences. For early-career psychiatrists, it offers a predictable start; for experienced clinicians, it provides scalability with transparency around expectations.

Can I work anywhere?

Is there a cost to my health system?

Yes. Our roles are fully remote within the United States. We also provide multi-state licensure support, so you can expand your reach without added administrative burden.

Do you offer full-time and part-time roles?

Is there a cost to my health system?

Yes, both part-time and full-time scheduling options are available. Clinicians set their own schedules, whether building a panel early in their career, balancing professional and family commitments, or transitioning into retirement.
