Most of my work as a psychiatrist is with adults navigating PTSD, OCD, and the shifts that come with becoming a parent, including postpartum depression. I also spend time with people managing more complex patterns, like personality disorders, bipolar disorder, and anxiety that has quietly reshaped their daily lives. I trained in general adult psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine, where I served as Chief Resident of Education in my final year, and I bring an analytical, problem-solving mindset to sorting out what's actually driving a person's symptoms.

I don't think good treatment can start until I understand someone fully, so the first visit is a thorough evaluation where I take my time with your history, your symptoms, and what you're actually hoping to change. Medication management is the foundation of what I do, but it's one piece of the picture, not the whole plan. Depending on what you need, I'll fold in supportive therapy or recommend adding a therapist so the care around you is well-rounded. I try to be transparent about my reasoning and to build decisions with you rather than hand them down, and I tend to look for the strengths already there to work from.

I especially find common ground with parents and caregivers trying to hold their own health steady while looking after everyone else. The first step is really just a conversation, and we sort out the direction together once I understand where you're starting from.

I focus on providing a comprehensive medical assessment, medication management, psychoeducation, wellness, and alternative therapies. My approach is collaborative, and I have a strong interest in functional medicine and alternative therapies. I have also taught seminars in differential diagnosis, alternative therapies, and psychopharmacology.

I am board certified in adult psychiatry and have been practicing psychiatry for more than 40 years. I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester and earned my MD from Cornell University Medical College in New York City. My psychiatry residency was at the University of Boston Medical Center. After training, I held clinical and administrative positions at Kaiser Permanente in Denver, CO and the Harvard Community Health Plan in Braintree, Massachusetts.

Prior to joining Talkiatry, I practiced at the University of Denver Health and Counseling Center for 20 years, where I treated undergraduate and graduate students. I also worked at a clinic providing care to indigent patients, which was also a training site for graduate psychology students. I have supervised and taught psychiatric residents and psychology trainees.

I am a psychiatrist with over 35 years of experience treating patients with mental health issues. My practice has historically focused on treating patients with varying mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder, often complicated by substance use disorders. I enjoy working with patients of all ages. I am skilled in both psychotherapy and medication management. While the emphasis will generally be on medication management, I utilize insight-oriented, cognitive behavioral, and supportive psychotherapy skills to help my patients reach their treatment goals.

I completed my internship at Bronx Lebanon Hospital, my residency at Montefiore Medical Center, and a two-year fellowship in biological psychiatry, psychopharmacology, and geriatric psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. I served for over 20 years as Chief of Psychiatric Services for Behavioral Health Services at St John's Riverside Hospital Park Care Pavilion, formerly Yonkers General Hospital. There I was also able to enjoy teaching medical students from The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in their psychiatric rotation. I have been Assistant Medical Director for Arms Acres, in Carmel, NY for over five years.

How does compensation work?

Is there a cost to my health system?

Clinicians receive a base salary plus monthly productivity incentives. This structure provides stable income with the ability to increase earnings based on caseload and scheduling preferences. For early-career psychiatrists, it offers a predictable start; for experienced clinicians, it provides scalability with transparency around expectations.
