I try to take a person-centered approach to psychiatry. I spend time getting to know each person and take a collaborative approach to medication management while providing supportive therapy. I believe that the relationship is one of the most important aspects of treatment. I am open to working with most diagnoses including Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, PTSD, ADHD, Personality Disorders, and others, and I will work with each person to develop a treatment plan that works for them.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist who has practiced in a wide range of settings, including both outpatient and inpatient, during the past 10 years. I studied medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed my psychiatry residency training at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. I went on to complete a Community Psychiatry Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and have continued to serve the greater Philadelphia area.

I am an experienced, open-minded psychiatrist who prioritizes empathy and understanding in my work. I recognize that each individual's path to wellness is unique and strive to meet patients where they are in this process. I believe that while some individuals may benefit from treatment with medication management alone, psychotherapy is often important for treatment success. I encourage patients to participate in psychotherapy and believe a therapist can be a crucial part of the treatment team. I use a collaborative, patient-centered treatment approach with the goal of reducing mental pain and improving wellness so that patients are better able to pursue their unique personal and professional goals. I utilize psychopharmacology, psychoeducation, and supportive and psychodynamic psychotherapy skills when working with patients. I have experience treating adults with a variety of mental health problems including anxiety, mood disorders, trauma-related disorders, and psychotic disorders.

I am board-certified in general adult psychiatry and have more than twenty years of experience working with adults in a variety of mental health care settings including academia, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, university medical centers, VA medical centers, and community mental health settings. I received my medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine and completed my psychiatric residency at the University of California, Los Angeles Neuropsychiatric Institute.

My approach is holistic, integrative, and patient-centered, grounded in cultural humility and collaborative care. I specialize in mood and anxiety disorders, including depression, PTSD, and perinatal mental health, with a clinical focus on improving access to quality mental healthcare for historically marginalized and/or minoritized communities. I recognize that not all patients require medication, and I integrate culturally affirming support when therapy and education are more appropriate. I do not prescribe benzodiazepines, focusing instead on evidence-based strategies that support long-term wellness. I begin care with a consultation to ensure a strong fit and shared treatment goals, and I am committed to creating a safe, trusting space where patients feel empowered and in control of their healing.

I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist with over 15 years of experience treating patients across inpatient, outpatient, emergency, and telepsychiatry settings. Dr. Emily Deringer, MD

Dr. Deringer is a psychiatrist with board certification in general psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. She earned her M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School, and she completed her psychiatry residency and addiction psychiatry fellowship training at New York University. She has previously held faculty roles at New York University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School. She has been involved in training the next generation of psychiatrists through her past work on the Program Director team for the MGH-McLean Psychiatry Residency Program. She has expertise in treating adults with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, personality disorders, trauma, and ADHD.

Dr. Deringer cares deeply about understanding each patient's unique experience.  She recognizes that mental health symptoms are impacted by an individual's biological make-up, social situation, and their individual way of interacting with others in the world.  She will assess all of these factors and work with you to develop an appropriate treatment plan to help you feel better and meet your goals.  She incorporates supportive psychotherapy into all of her patient meetings; this may include discussions of the role of nutrition, exercise, and sleep habits in your overall well-being.

Dr. Deringer will begin the evaluation process with a thorough one-hour session in which we will discuss your current symptoms, your prior treatment history, your medical history, and your goals for treatment.  At the end of that session, she will begin to formulate her diagnostic impression and treatment recommendations.  Sometimes, the evaluation process may require more than one session, and it may be helpful for Dr. Deringer to gather information, with your permission, from prior treatment or to collaborate with your therapist if you have one.  Dr. Deringer will work with you on a medication treatment plan, if clinically indicated, to help you manage your symptoms and achieve your treatment goals.

I use a person-centered approach to tailor treatment to the individual, with an emphasis on shared decision making. I prefer to focus on psychotherapy and behavioral interventions as a primary part of the treatment plan, in addition to any indicated medication. Motivation for change is a large part of the healing process, and for many people recovery doesn't happen with medication alone. I ask all my patients to play an active role in their treatment. A thorough diagnostic assessment with discussion of the best treatment setting and modality, then regular follow up visits with emphasis on psychotherapy in addition to medication management (if indicated).

I am a Staff Psychiatrist with Talkiatry. I previously served in the US Air Force, where I completed my residency training in psychiatry (Lackland AFB) and was the medical director for a small-sized mental health clinic (Hill AFB).

I treat patients of various ages, and in addition to medication management I am a strong proponent of therapy in various forms. My approach to the treatment of adults and children/adolescents incorporates the impact of various things such as family history of mental health/medical conditions as well as any adverse childhood experiences/trauma. In addition to screening for common conditions such as bipolar disorder, anxiety, and depression in all patients, I also emphasize the importance of screening for conditions that can manifest in childhood (such as ADHD, Autism) as well as first-episode psychosis in young adults. From the initial visit and onward, I prioritize a collaborative effort with my patients (and at times their families). In addition to medication adjustments, I emphasize the importance of optimizing additional tools such as therapy while making appropriate lifestyle changes. During every follow-up visit, I take care to ensure that the current treatment is not hindering my patient's progress in any way.

I am board certified in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I completed my undergraduate studies at Stony Brook University and attended medical school at the American University of Integrative Sciences. I also hold an MBA from Davenport University. I completed my psychiatry residency training at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University, where I served as Chief Fellow. Prior to joining Talkiatry, I trained and worked across a combination of various healthcare systems in New York, New Jersey, Ohio, and Kentucky.

What has motivated me over the course of my career as a caregiver? I am a native Houstonian who grew up in a working-class community. Through curiosity and hard work, I was able to attend a university that included people of vastly different life experiences. I was molded by both communities to appreciate the commonalities of humanity. That broad exposure extended my empathetic spectrum to grasp the needs of the American diaspora.

I use a biopsychosocial approach to evaluate the patient. I gather patient history with a mindset that considers the neuroscience that chemically shapes mood, thoughts, and behavior. I am able to uncover factors that can inhibit psychological growth and development. I have experience in seeing how the social conditions of the œthen can influence the resiliency of the œnow. I appreciate, and am proficient in, advances in technology, but prioritize the analog relationship between doctor and patient.

Meeting people where they are. It is an old trope, but describes how one allows a patient to set the path forward. An open-ended interview is conducted with an open mind towards resolution. When being evaluated and treated by me, a patient can expect to be met in a cordial but professional manner. Treatments are discussed and considered based on the mental state of the patient and the clinical efficacy and scientific evidence of benefit. The patient is invited to ask questions and consider whether they wish to pursue the suggested treatment plan.

Although I specialize in medication management of psychiatric conditions, supportive psychotherapy is often incorporated into my visits, as I believe a combined approach leads to a more robust treatment response. Additionally, I aim to enhance wellness through discussion of lifestyle modifications that emphasize quality sleep, a healthy diet, and regular exercise.

Initial appointments consist of a psychiatric evaluation and discussion of evidence-based treatment options. If telehealth is deemed to be an appropriate modality and pharmacotherapy is recommended, discussion will consist of selecting a suitable medication to address target symptoms while minimizing adverse effects. Follow-up visits focus on assessing treatment response and adjusting regimens to optimize outcomes.

My approach to patient care is rooted in empathy, trust, and collaboration. I am dedicated to listening closely to each patient's unique concerns and crafting personalized treatment plans that address both immediate symptoms and long-term mental well-being. My specialties include managing mood disorders, anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and stress-related conditions, with a particular emphasis on helping individuals navigate life transitions and mental health challenges. I believe in a thorough and patient-centered approach: during the first session, I take the time to understand my patient's history, current struggles, and goals for treatment, and together we establish clear and realistic objectives to guide the treatment process. I offer a combination of psychotherapy, medication management, and wellness strategies, and I value open communication to ensure that every patient feels heard and empowered throughout their mental health journey.

I am a staff psychiatrist at Talkiatry, dedicated to providing compassionate and effective care through telepsychiatry. I completed my undergraduate studies at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, where I focused on Neuroscience and Pre-Medical studies. I then pursued my medical degree at Rocky Vista University in Parker, Colorado before completing my psychiatry residency at HCA Aurora in Aurora, Colorado. I was the recipient of the Chairman's Crystal Distinction of Excellence Award, recognizing a resident's exemplary performance and endorsing a resident's future success in the field of psychiatry. With a strong foundation in both neuroscience and psychiatry, I approach each patient with a deep understanding of the mind-body connection and the complexities of mental health.

When I am not providing professional care, I am an advocate for personal health and wellness. I enjoy spending quality time with my wife and family, staying active through exercise, relaxing at the Jersey Shore, and exploring new travel destinations.

My approach is to get to know my patients well in order to provide more comprehensive care. I prefer Cognitive Behavioral therapy or Rational Emotive therapy, which I feel is the most time effective and enduring therapy to help patients' needs. I enjoy working with patients who have anxiety, mood disorders, and ADHD, and I am particularly interested in treatment-resistant Depression and Anxiety Disorders. Patients working with me know that I realize they have been suffering with their symptoms for some time, or they would not be seeking help, and I will work with each patient in collaboration to help receive the proper care. The typical process is to first spend time gathering a history of the symptoms, then include significant medical history which may be primary or secondary contributing factors, and also examine the psychosocial profile and how that may contribute to the initiation of symptoms and prevention of improvement. It is essential to form a differential diagnosis and continue to look at any ongoing issues as well as co-morbidities. I believe it is most important to discuss possible treatment modalities and take into consideration the patient's participation in ongoing care, staying up to date on the latest modalities and using a combination of medication, nutritional supplements, and behavioral therapies that can foster lasting improvement. It is very gratifying watching patients blossom and overcome their psychiatric disorder and then function at their best in work, leisure pursuits, and relationships.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons, and the American Association of Psychiatric Medicine. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, I received my MD from New York University after completing a 5th pathway at Booth Memorial Hospital in Queens, New York. I began my experience seeing patients with treatment refractory major psychiatric illnesses at Rockland Psychiatric Center in Rockland County, New York, where I also served on the psychopharmacology committee. I then practiced outpatient psychiatry at Rockland County Community Mental Health and Westchester County Mental Health for over 20 years, in addition to maintaining a private practice, and held the position of Associate Director of the division in Westchester County for over 18 years. That work exposed me to all levels of psychiatric care, including patients in the community, patients with limited income, and dual diagnoses including substance abuse. I also have extensive experience working with patients with developmental disabilities, as this is an underserved need.

I then went on to work in Florida for Florida Health Care Plans, an HMO, and in private practice for the past 13 years. I worked at the Counseling Center of New Smyrna Beach, helped establish the Center for Behavioral Medicine in Port Orange, Florida as part of a multidisciplinary practice, and established Advanced TMS in Port Orange, Florida. I subsequently practiced Interventional Psychiatry with Greenbrook TMS in the greater Orlando area. I am certified in TMS for brain mapping with Neurostar and Cloud TMS and have experience in the use of intranasal ketamine for treatment-resistant depression. I have been a member of the Neuroscience Education Institute since 2012, where I hold a certificate as a Master Psychopharmacologist, and I am a member of the Clinical TMS Society. I am also certified in Medical Marijuana and have completed the IV Ketamine Infusion therapy course as well as Botox training certification. I practice psychiatry through a collaborative, integrative, disability and healing justice-informed lens. I reject oversimplified binaries, recognizing that healing requires embracing complexity. My approach integrates psychiatric and psychotherapeutic practices with complementary, alternative, and natural therapies, as well as harm reduction. My approach is neurodivergence-, queer-, and gender-affirming as well as trauma-informed. Rejecting the binary of "mentally ill" vs. "mentally healthy," I recognize the mind, body, and soul's inherent complexity. My clinical interests include anxiety, OCD, women's reproductive mental health, climate stress, intergenerational trauma, immigrant and refugee mental health, and substance use concerns.

I provide a healing space that prioritizes each service user's goals and lived experiences, and I tailor care to each service user. The first session explores goals, treatment options, and optimal meeting frequency. In many cases, visits are more frequent at the beginning of treatment and spaced out over time. I prefer visits at least every 4–6 weeks and integrate psychotherapy into all treatment plans, with many service users benefiting from ongoing deeper therapeutic work.

My training includes Columbia, Johns Hopkins, and a global mental health fellowship at UCSF.

Based in Tucson, I enjoy desert life, reading, baking, making art, and spending time with my two dogs.

At times, additional psychotherapy is needed, and a therapist may be added to provide the best outcome. I have developed expertise in quickly building rapport with patients, conducting medication management assessments, and implementing effective interventions. I understand the delicate balance of providing thorough care within the constraints of virtual sessions, and I have developed strategies to ensure patients feel supported and understood, even through a screen. By combining clinical expertise with genuine empathy and persistence, I help my patients navigate their treatment journey with confidence and hope.

I am a board-certified psychiatrist who treats adults. I graduated Magna Cum Laude and with General Honors from the University of Miami, and I completed medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in the prestigious Honors Program in Medicine. I continued my medical education at Jackson Memorial Hospital and University of Miami Hospital for my 4-year psychiatry residency training program. After completing my training, I held an academic appointment at the University of Miami while working at the Miami Veterans Affairs Hospital, initially as a behavioral health consultant in the Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) model and later as a Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) psychiatrist in the Mental Health Treatment Coordinator (MHTC) role. My background spans clinical care, academic research, and community service, giving me a comprehensive understanding of mental healthcare delivery across different settings. These experiences taught me how to maintain clinical excellence while showing patience and respect for each patient's unique circumstances.

I am a double board-certified psychiatrist specializing in general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. Known for a collaborative and holistic treatment approach, I emphasize individualized care and evidence-based practices to support patients' mental wellness. My preferred treatment modalities include medication management, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and supportive psychotherapy. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism, OCD, bipolar disorder, and PTSD. My typical approach for new patients involves taking a detailed patient history, establishing rapport, and setting clear treatment goals in partnership with my patients.

I currently practice full-time, offering comprehensive psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and adults. I previously established and led a Behavioral Health Clinic integrated within a Family Medicine Practice, and prior to that role I provided dedicated psychiatric care at a private psychiatry practice for over a decade. I earned my medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, completed residency training at Baylor College of Medicine's Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, and pursued additional specialization through a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship at Palmetto Health/USC School of Medicine. My professional excellence has earned recognition as Sumter's Best Psychiatrist for consecutive years.

I eagerly treat a wide range of age groups and conditions and am passionate about patients coping with chronic medical conditions and caregivers. I also have experience with perinatal mood disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, and PTSD. I strive to deliver evidence-based treatment tailored to my patients' individual needs. In addition to medication management, I incorporate brief therapy modalities into my appointments including supportive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavioral therapy skills. I will work with you to determine if more comprehensive therapy may be needed. I can also provide practical and realistic behavioral strategies to caregivers and patients with memory changes. I prefer to meet patients where they are in a supportive, safe, and non-judgmental environment.

I am a board-certified geriatric and general adult psychiatrist, originally from Ohio. I obtained my bachelor's degree in neuroscience and psychology from Wright State University and attended medical school at Ohio University. Clinicians receive a base salary plus monthly productivity incentives. This structure provides stable income with the ability to increase earnings based on caseload and scheduling preferences. For early-career psychiatrists, it offers a predictable start; for experienced clinicians, it provides scalability with transparency around expectations.
