I view each patient and their caregiver's circumstance as unique. I take a holistic and collaborative approach to help patients understand their options. While the focus may be on psychoeducation and medication management with supportive and psychodynamic therapeutic interventions, there may be a need for additional therapy, and I may ask that a therapist be added to the treatment team. I work towards establishing a meaningful, trusting relationship.

I am double board certified in General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. I have worked in various settings with culturally diverse populations, with a primary focus on caring for children in outpatient programs. I have spent over ten years as an administrative leader, having chaired and co-chaired committees overseeing the practice of fellow psychiatrists and served as Discipline Chief. I have also been teaching and supervising Nurse Practitioner students and Physician Assistant students. I am experienced with a wide variety of psychiatric diagnoses and therapeutic modalities.

My practice focuses on medication management, and I typically offer medication management combined with supportive therapy or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in 30-minute follow-up visits. If I feel you would benefit from working with a dedicated talk therapist, I may encourage you to pursue this or refer you in order to achieve the best outcome. My approach is always to meet the patient where they are and educate and enable patients to make good choices about treatment that are in line with their personal preferences and values.

I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist and have been practicing in outpatient psychiatry for nearly 7 years. I am a graduate of Michigan State College of Human Medicine and completed my psychiatry residency at Pine Rest/Michigan State University in Grand Rapids, MI. I have previously worked as an outpatient psychiatrist and in tele-psychiatry. I have a lot of experience treating patients with a broad array of mental health conditions, including anxiety disorders, depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. I also treat combined mental health diagnoses such as ADHD plus another diagnosis. I also have a lot of experience working with patients who identify as LGBTQI+.

My practice focuses on making progress towards therapeutic goals by utilizing a specifically tailored combination of medication management and psychotherapy depending on any given individual's needs. I understand how difficult it can be to begin seeing a new psychiatrist, and I do my best to create a safe, welcoming environment that patients can feel comfortable in.
