I took an adventurous path to Talkiatry. After perhaps thinking a little too hard about Intro to Philosophy in college — "the unexamined life is not worth living" — I first used my chemistry degree to work in pharmaceutical research. I changed course, working in computer network engineering, before deciding to find a more meaningful path. I worked as an EMT, then earned a Master's in Physiology before finally landing in medical school at Ohio State.

Finding a surprising interest in psychiatry, I stayed at Ohio State for residency, and then a fellowship in forensic psychiatry. I am board-certified in both Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. I previously worked as a forensic psychiatrist and evaluator at Ohio's maximum-security state psychiatric facility, as an attending psychiatrist running an inpatient unit for violent or dangerous patients, performing court-ordered evaluations, writing reports, and testifying when necessary. I have also worked as a consultation-liaison psychiatrist, performing psychiatric consults at several general hospitals in Central Ohio's largest hospital system.

I found great enjoyment in teaching successive generations of residents and medical students, serving as an adjunct faculty member at Ohio State, Ohio University, Wright State, and OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital. I am excited for the next chapter of my journey, exploring another area of psychiatry at Talkiatry.

I practice a holistic approach, combining psychiatric medications with elements of psychotherapy and mindfulness. I offer individualized and comprehensive treatment plans that address the whole person, including lifestyle and social engagement, because the latest research findings show that both play an important role in mental and physical health. Education on mental illness and recommendations on diet and exercise are always discussed with my patients according to each individual's needs. I spend time listening to patients and make plans based on clinical evidence without an authoritative approach, taking into consideration the patient's level of comfort and views because, in my experience, the best outcomes are always reached when patients fully understand and agree with the management of their conditions. I have extensive experience in psychopharmacology and offer state-of-the-art medication management with compassion and empathy, with a focus on mood disorders and anxiety.

I am Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I obtained my medical degree with Laude from the University of Rome, La Sapienza, and completed my residency in Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. I have been in practice for more than twenty years and have extensive experience in general Adult Psychiatry. After my residency, I pursued additional training in consult liaison psychiatry, further developing my expertise in caring for patients with complex medical and psychiatric comorbidities. I was part of the esteemed faculty at Stony Brook University as an Assistant Clinical Professor and Staff Psychiatrist. I have also gained experience in Telehealth, providing virtual care to patients and enjoying the flexibility and convenience it offers.

My practice focuses on medication management, though I passionately believe in a holistic approach. I have a gentle and approachable style when providing medication management in conjunction with supportive psychotherapy, and at times Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to more fully address each individual's needs. I utilize mindfulness approaches as well, which I find personally meaningful in my practices of meditation and yoga. I have experience treating patients with depressive and bipolar disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, and OCD.

I attended Boston University for my undergraduate studies and Loyola Marymount University for graduate school. I then completed my training at Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine for medical school and Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine for residency, where I was selected to serve as Chief Resident during my final year. I am a board-certified Psychiatrist. After completion of my residency in 2016, I dedicated seven years to serving a wide range of patients in a community mental health setting, both in-person and via telepsychiatry. I also serve as a provider at an Intensive Outpatient Program. I also have extensive teaching experience in various settings.

If I feel you would benefit from working with a therapist as well, I may recommend that, as I value a collaborative approach.

I employ empathic listening, supportive psychotherapy techniques, and a comprehensive and methodological approach to my visits. Given my broad and diverse training experiences, I enjoy problem solving and working collaboratively with patients to navigate their complex issues and jointly focusing on simple solutions to work towards improving their mental health. I have experience working with adults of all ages, particularly those with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, PTSD, and more.

I am a board certified adult psychiatrist and burgeoning Geriatric Psychiatrist. After completing my undergraduate education at Florida State University, I attended medical school at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where I graduated with a combined M.D./M.S. in Genomic Medicine. I subsequently completed psychiatry residency at Jackson Health System/University of Miami and further subspecialized with a fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry.

I have had the opportunity of working with a diverse array of patients including veterans, inmates, the severely mentally ill, geriatric, and cancer patients across three distinct hospital systems. My clinical experiences have spanned specialty inpatient psychiatry units (detox, geriatric, mood disorder), emergency psychiatry, consultation liaison psychiatry, psycho-oncology, and outpatient specialty clinics (HIV, dementia, integrative and collaborative care) via telemedicine and face to face interactions.

My approach is rooted in a collaborative treatment model. I work closely with patients, exploring past and current stressors and any relevant medical conditions to develop a comprehensive understanding of their individual needs. Recognizing the importance of cultural competency, I incorporate patients' unique backgrounds, beliefs, and core values into their care plans. In my practice, I employ supportive psychotherapy and mindfulness along with evidence-based medication management, utilizing the most current clinical guidelines and treatment modalities.

I am an adult psychiatrist at Talkiatry. I treat all adults, and my passion lies in providing accessible care for women facing challenges throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum and in reproductive psychiatry. My academic background is rooted in science, with an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of California, Merced. I then pursued my medical doctorate at the Medical University of the Americas. Following medical school, I completed my psychiatry residency training. The first two years were spent at East Carolina University, Brody School of Medicine, with a culmination of my last two years of residency at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to further specialize in women's mental health, which solidified my expertise in this vital area.

At Allegheny Health Network's Women's Behavioral Health clinic, I honed my skills in treating a range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, and related issues, and served as a medical provider for their intensive perinatal/postpartum outpatient clinic. I also developed a deep understanding of perinatal mental health, supporting patients coping with perinatal loss and traumatic birthing experiences.

How does compensation work?

Is there a cost to my health system?

Clinicians receive a base salary plus monthly productivity incentives. This structure provides stable income with the ability to increase earnings based on caseload and scheduling preferences. For early-career psychiatrists, it offers a predictable start; for experienced clinicians, it provides scalability with transparency around expectations.
