I enjoy working with patients going through life transitions such as high school to college and college to adult life. I believe it is important to understand the whole person (mind, body, and spirit) when treating them. I treat people struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar, and ADHD, as well as trouble with relationships and family conflict. I provide both medication management and therapy, and I believe that medication is just one of the items in a psychiatrist's toolbox and that therapy is equally important as medication.

I am board certified in Psychiatry and Child/Adolescent Psychiatry. I graduated medical school from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC, and completed my residency and child/adolescent fellowship trainings at the University of Colorado - Anschutz Medical Center in Denver, CO. Previously, I worked on the inpatient and partial hospitalization child/adolescent psychiatric units at Children's Hospital Colorado, as well as in the school-based health clinics through Denver Health in partnership with Denver Public Schools. I have also worked in community mental health at the Mental Health Cooperative clinics throughout the Middle Tennessee region, and most recently joined a private practice before joining Talkiatry. I have been named to Nashville Lifestyles Magazine's Top Doctors list in 2022, 2023, and 2024. I take a no-nonsense approach and pride myself on collaborating with patients to attain their goals of optimum psychiatric health, believing that the cornerstone of a healthy partnership with any patient is a holistic approach. Listening with an open mind and heart while collaborating with my patients to provide the correct medication management and supportive care has always been the key for me. I have a genuine interest in treating psychiatric disorders including anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, and most specifically bipolar, as well as experience treating medical comorbidities including neurologic disorders.

After graduating from medical school, I completed my internship year in Internal Medicine at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, followed by two years of neurology residency at Barrow Neurological Institute before completing psychiatric residency at Maricopa Medical Center in 2005. I then spent the majority of my time caring for SMI/seriously mentally ill patients with a mantra of "propelling people forward to wellness." Working on the supportive level of care for this population honed my skills to care for the highest level of outpatient care through ACT/assertive community treatment. In 2023, I extended my expertise and skills to the general population to include telehealth management of my patients.

I emphasize the importance of addressing both physical and mental health to achieve a good quality of life. My holistic approach involves medication management, psychotherapy, and lifestyle modifications to promote overall health. I am skilled in providing supportive psychotherapy and using psychodynamic therapy techniques to help patients understand and address their current stressors and underlying issues.

I completed my Residency and Fellowship at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in El Paso, gaining extensive training in diagnosing and treating various psychiatric conditions. • Licensing support with upfront coverage of costs
  • Provided technology package for seamless virtual care
  • Virtual faculty practice, inclusive of education, research and engagement opportunities
  • And more
How does compensation work?

Is there a cost to my health system?

Clinicians receive a base salary plus monthly productivity incentives. This structure provides stable income with the ability to increase earnings based on caseload and scheduling preferences. For early-career psychiatrists, it offers a predictable start; for experienced clinicians, it provides scalability with transparency around expectations.

Can I work anywhere?

Is there a cost to my health system?
