Biography

I am deeply committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can express their thoughts and feelings freely. My approach to therapy involves engaging each client with warmth and enthusiasm, and I encourage them to be active participants on their journey of emotional growth, healing, and empowerment. I use therapeutic expertise and various inner-healing approaches to teach clients restorative self-care practices, exercises that cultivate emotional awareness, strategies to manage unhealthy thoughts, and methods to change undesirable behaviors.

Working with me, clients can expect to take away from each session a plan of action with detailed steps, easy to apply skills, and practical strategies to help them manage stress, heal from hurtful experiences, improve their communication skills, and strengthen boundaries in their relationships. They will gain a better understanding about how and why they feel uncomfortable emotions and why they experience strong reactions in response to those associated thoughts.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 23 years of extensive experience working in the mental health field. I have worked with clients facing a variety of life's challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, as well as perinatal and postpartum mental health. I attended undergraduate school in Albany, GA, and graduate school in Valdosta, GA.

I provide homework and clear follow-up focus points, drawing from Client-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavior, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, and Trauma-Focused therapies. I meet clients where they are, fully committed to guiding those ready to make meaningful, lasting change.

I believe it is both a privilege and a responsibility to create a safe, supportive space where patients can clarify goals and develop aspirations. My work emphasizes identifying barriers to success and examining unhelpful core beliefs, allowing patients to move toward meaningful and sustainable change. I spend the first one to two sessions gaining a clear understanding of where patients are coming from and where they would like to go. From there, I collaborate with patients to develop individualized goals, revisiting and refining them over time to support clarity, growth, and progress throughout therapy.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with experience working across a wide range of populations. I earned my master's degree in counseling psychology from National University and completed my intern hours working with adolescents in foster care and adults with severe mental illness in community-based programs. Early in my career, I served as an addictions specialist in high schools, prisons, and intensive outpatient and residential settings. Over the past four years, I have focused on mental and behavioral health in a telehealth setting, treating lower-acuity concerns such as anxiety, depression, panic, and adjustment disorders, along with trauma work using EMDR.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I want to congratulate you on taking it. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, and self-esteem challenges. I take a client-centered, collaborative approach, tailoring sessions to your unique needs in a safe and supportive environment. I prioritize clear communication, active listening, and a non-judgmental, culturally sensitive approach.

I believe therapy is a partnership, working together to set meaningful goals and adapt them as insights develop. I am calm and patient, helping you feel understood while providing guidance. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and may integrate mindfulness and other strategies based on your needs. Together, we will identify challenges, develop practical coping skills, and work toward your goals. The first session focuses on understanding your background, what brings you to therapy, and creating a plan to support ongoing growth.

I value open and honest communication and partner with clients to set clear treatment goals that support their personal growth. I create a warm, supportive environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential. I begin by thoroughly understanding each client's history, concerns, and goals during the initial session to foster a trusting relationship, then develop individualized treatment plans that align with clients' objectives, guiding them toward their best possible self.

I have over 10 years of experience practicing in outpatient and inpatient settings, utilizing modalities such as CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences/Human Services and a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from Mercer University, and am completing a Doctorate in Marriage & Family Therapy from North Central University, expected in 2026.

I believe therapy is both a journey and a destination. My therapeutic approach integrates psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, strengths-based, dialectical behavioral, and EMDR modalities. I am dedicated to providing culturally sensitive, neurodivergent-friendly, person-centered care to support individuals and families navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, panic attacks, grief, family conflict, and life transitions. I take an eclectic approach, tailoring interventions and communication to best fit each patient's needs and preferences. Through motivational interviewing and narrative techniques, I help individuals articulate their stories, identify strengths, and reframe challenges as opportunities for growth. I am committed to meeting patients where they are while supporting them in reaching their goals.

My process begins with building rapport, listening to each patient's story, and understanding their unique needs and hopes for therapy. Early sessions focus on creating a safe, supportive space while developing a treatment plan tailored to the individual. Patients can expect an atmosphere of warmth, empathy, and collaboration, as well as fresh perspectives, practical coping strategies, and deeper self-awareness. My goal is for patients to feel heard, understood, and empowered as they strengthen relationships, build resilience, and move toward a greater sense of fulfillment.

I began my journey in mental healthcare with a Bachelor's in Psychology followed by a Master of Social Work degree. From 2015 to 2018, I completed my clinical hours at a community mental health agency in Los Angeles, where I gained experience working with diverse populations facing complex challenges.

I understand that beginning counseling can feel intimidating, and I strive to create a safe, welcoming environment where therapy moves at the patient's pace. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy while incorporating elements of Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused approaches, Strength-Based methods, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Drawing on my multicultural background, I respect and honor each individual's unique experiences and cultures. I believe no concern is too large or too small to address in therapy and emphasize collaboration at every stage.

I view the first appointment as a chance to build trust, explore how the patient and I can work together, and establish goals for therapy. I provide a clear framework for what to expect, welcome questions, and encourage open communication throughout the process. Understanding that sharing personal history can be difficult, I am committed to moving at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive for each patient.

I bring more than 20 years of experience to my work as a therapist, having served in inpatient, outpatient, emergency, hospital, and community mental health settings, as well as leadership roles such as managing the social services department at a crisis stabilization facility. I earned my MS in Clinical/Counseling Psychology and Ed.S. in School Psychology from Valdosta State University, and a BA in Psychology and Sociology from Loyola University in New Orleans. I hold licenses in Georgia, North Carolina, Florida, and South Carolina (LPC, LCMHC, LMHC, CPCS) and am also trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
