Matthew Koller, MD
Clinical Coverage Director
Most of my work as a psychiatrist is with adults navigating PTSD, OCD, and the shifts that come with becoming a parent, including postpartum depression. I also spend time with people managing more complex patterns, like personality disorders, bipolar disorder, and anxiety that has quietly reshaped their daily lives. I trained in general adult psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine, where I served as Chief Resident of Education in my final year, and I bring an analytical, problem-solving mindset to sorting out what's actually driving a person's symptoms.
I don't think good treatment can start until I understand someone fully, so the first visit is a thorough evaluation where I take my time with your history, your symptoms, and what you're actually hoping to change. Medication management is the foundation of what I do, but it's one piece of the picture, not the whole plan. Depending on what you need, I'll fold in supportive therapy or recommend adding a therapist so the care around you is well-rounded. I try to be transparent about my reasoning and to build decisions with you rather than hand them down, and I tend to look for the strengths already there to work from.
I especially find common ground with parents and caregivers trying to hold their own health steady while looking after everyone else. The first step is really just a conversation, and we sort out the direction together once I understand where you're starting from.

My clinical approach is grounded in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and I continually expand my knowledge by incorporating tools from a variety of therapeutic modalities. I am fascinated with the connectedness of the conscious and subconscious mind, body, and spirit, and I approach treatment through the lens of a growth mindset. I prioritize creating a safe space where patients can strengthen their courage to be vulnerable and authentic. I view therapy as a journey of helping patients explore their inner world, where I act as a mirror in order for patients to gain insight into their motivations, patterns, values, and higher purpose.
I prefer knowing my patients on a deep level and highly value the therapeutic process, which requires patience over speed. I acknowledge that it takes many sessions before even a preliminary understanding of the human being in front of me can be formulated. I honor the truth that my patients are the experts of themselves, and I prefer empowering them over micromanagement. As subconscious patterns emerge, I highlight these, as they are often blind spots to the patient. I understand that when it comes to mental health, quick fixes are not the most appropriate or effective means to healing. However, I respect the use of medications when indicated in addition to talk therapy.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Nicholls State University and a Master of Science in Acupuncture from Texas Health and Science University. I completed both my MD and General Psychiatry training at Texas Tech Paul Foster School of Medicine, followed by specialized training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Texas School of Medicine.

I seek to provide a safe, non-judgmental, gender affirming space for patients as they strive to lead a happier, more contented life. I employ a holistic, multimodal treatment approach, and aiming to treat the whole person, I stress the importance of nutrition, exercise, and sleep. I believe an informed patient actively engaged in decision making surrounding treatment has the best chance of effecting lasting change. Believing in the synergistic effect of talk therapy and medication, I incorporate one or more talk therapy techniques, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and supportive and psychodynamic psychotherapies, into most sessions. I often recommend formal participation in some form of talk therapy and am happy to collaborate with other providers.
I have experience treating patients with various forms of depression and anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, ADHD, PTSD, and substance use disorders. My approach is rooted in compassion, collaboration, and respect for your unique story. I view mental health treatment as a partnership, one where psychotherapy and medication can work together to support your growth and healing. My goal is to help you uncover the patterns and behaviors that may be holding you back, and empower you to make meaningful, sustainable change. I encourage patients to take ownership of their mental health, and I am here to provide the tools, guidance, and support you need along the way.
We'll begin by taking the time to understand your story, your goals, and what brings you to treatment. The first few sessions focus on building trust and identifying the areas where you'd like to see change. From there, we'll collaboratively develop a treatment plan that may include psychotherapy, medication, or both, always tailored to your needs. I draw from multiple therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, to provide care that fits you, not the other way around. Throughout our work, I'll support you in developing insight, resilience, and confidence in managing your mental health.
My background includes medical training at the University of Utah, where I served as Student Body President, and psychiatric residency at the University of Texas, where I served as Inpatient Chief Resident and received awards for both clinical excellence and medical education. I hold an MD and an MBA.
Outside of clinical care, I am deeply interested in narrative medicine, the way our personal stories shape our mental health, and I found my passion for mental health care through the power of listening to people's stories. I bring that same commitment and curiosity to my work with patients.

Akshar Brahmbhatt, DO
Staff Psychiatrist
I create a warm, collaborative environment where patients feel heard and respected. I value open communication and work with patients to set meaningful, realistic goals at a pace that feels comfortable. Using evidence-based treatments, I explain the reasoning behind each approach so patients feel informed and empowered throughout their care. I bring expertise in ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, bipolar depression, OCD, and a wide range of psychiatric conditions.
In the first session, I take time to understand each patient's history, concerns, and goals. Together, we identify key areas of focus and build an individualized treatment plan. Follow-up sessions build on progress, address challenges, and adjust the plan as needs evolve. I work at the patient's pace, helping them explore patterns, gain insight, and develop a sustainable path forward.
I attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where I majored in Economics, before earning my medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University. I completed my psychiatry residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. I have experience in both inpatient and outpatient care.
