My practice focuses on a duality of treatment strategies: specifically psychotropic medication management in conjunction with non-pharmacologic treatment modalities including supportive psychotherapy, emotive supportive psychotherapy, and personalized variants of psychodynamic/interpersonal psychotherapy. I was born and raised in a neighborhood in the North Bronx. I attended Queens College, CUNY, where I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Hebrew. I completed medical school at NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY, and thereafter was accepted to NUMC for psychiatry residency training. For my final year of residency, I was appointed to the position of Chief Resident for Academics & Research for the Psychiatry residency program at NUMC, Nassau University Medical Center. I received two awards during my residency training: the Acute Mental Health Services Award and the Ambulatory Mental Health Services Award at the end of my 2nd and 3rd years of residency training, respectively. At NUMC, I underwent rigorous training in a multitude of psychiatric settings and have experience managing a wide array of psychiatric areas of treatment, including mood/bipolar disorders, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders, as well as the intersection of medical disorders and psychiatric disorders.

I received my undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, and then moved to Morgantown, West Virginia to complete my psychiatry residency. My practice focuses primarily on medication management, in addition to supportive and cognitive and behavioral therapy in 30-minute follow-up visits. Sometimes I will suggest that additional therapy be included in your treatment plan in order to provide the best outcome. I view patients as partners working toward a common goal of improving quality of life. I also appreciate the strong connection between physical and mental health and provide encouragement and support to patients to make behavioral changes that will benefit both.
I received my medical degree from the University of Illinois and completed my residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. I received my B.A. from Yale University, graduating cum laude with a double major in Biology and Literature. I have worked in emergency psychiatry, community psychiatry, and private practice, and operated my own independent practice in downtown Chicago. Before joining Talkiatry, I had the honor of working for the Department of Veterans Affairs in both outpatient and residential settings, where I gained experience in improving quality of life for veterans with a wide range of troublesome to downright disabling psychiatric conditions, including severe anxiety and mood disorders, psychosis, obsessive-compulsive disorder, developmental disorders including autism spectrum and attention-deficit disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. These disorders have almost certainly been with us for all of recorded human history, but within the last few generations, our understanding of and ability to treat these conditions has grown by leaps and bounds.

After serving as an Intelligence Officer in the Navy for eight years, I transitioned to medicine and earned my medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. After completing an intern year in Family Medicine, I completed residency training in Psychiatry at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA, where I remained on staff for the next ten years and was primarily involved in resident training and education. I held academic appointments at the Uniformed Services University and Eastern Virginia Medical School and served as the Psychiatry Residency Program Director for six years. I served my final four years in uniform running the behavioral health department at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, WA, and recently retired from the Navy after a 30-year career.

She completed her residency at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio as a member of the United States Air Force. Dr. Negrey served as an active duty psychiatrist; her duties included medical director of the mental health clinic at a special operations base as well as a program manager for the Air Force substance use program.
Dr. Negrey has experience treating a wide range of ages and diagnoses, with particular emphasis on personality disorders, depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder. I typically recommend evidence-based treatments and may, occasionally, believe that concurrent therapy is also needed. I received my medical degree from Universidad Evangélica de El Salvador. I completed a residency in Psychiatry and a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Southern University School of Medicine in Springfield, Illinois. After completing my training, I remained at the school, where I worked as an Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, supervising and teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and treating patients with various psychiatric conditions. I also have experience in treating treatment-resistant mood disorders with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
